Is the seated-centered solo listening to music a dated tech?
What can I say? I just enjoy the heck out of sitting in the sweet spot thrown by my speaker pair. It's the closest thing I can reasonably do to actually put me at the recording venue...or the venue artificially generated (sometimes superbly) by th...
What selections do you play when showing off your system to others?
I could care less about the tut-tuts I sometimes get. I could care less about the various contests people might goad me into to determine who is the more virtuous hobbyist. In any event, I got to say that, in my current living circumstances the on...
Do You Tell Others How Much You Have Invested in Your System?
I'll tell anybody who comes over to the house and asks.

Off the top of my head, any Harmonia Mundi France LP. Lots of banging. Lots of bells & plucked strings. 3d to die for.
Mahler on vinyl - your favorite
Yeah, I love the Solti Mahler 2nd as well. The problem with me and the Solti/Decca Mahler Eighth is that I just find the Eighth perhaps, errrr, a trifle overblown.
Mahler on vinyl - your favorite
Des Knaben Wunderhorn -- On Vanguard Everyman Classics. Sung by Maureen Forrester and Heinz Rehfuss. Orchestra of the Vienna Festival. Maybe my favorite record on my shelf, regardless of genre. Symphony No. 1, conducted by Bruno Walter. Columbia ...
Streamer advice
I've mentioned this on this website, but when my Mytek Brooklyn Bridge bit the dust, Upscale Audio talked me into getting the CXN V2 mentioned by blisshifi above. It runs coolly & quietly and delivers SQ that often surpasses my SOTA/Alphason/H...
The character of analog and digital
@heretobuy -- Over the years I've had more stick shift cars than automatics. Right now I enjoy the hell out of my six speed manual Mazda Miata.  It has the best gearbox I've ever had. Better than the ones in any of my BMWs. Certainly better tha...
The Killer Has Died
Saw him perform live once. Was it at the Troubadour in Hollywood? Or was he the opening act for someone like the Doors? Or did I see him twice? Yeah he was a bit sloppy but so what? He brought scads of both fun and authority to the proceedings.
Amoeba Music We Like
Damn. I used to practically live there (the L.A. one) when they first opened.
Cartridge burn-in
Just let it all happen. Give the cartridge a couple weeks to settle in, adjusting VTA as necessary. Experiment with the amount of anti-skate. Let your ears adjust to the cartridge's personality. Come to appreciate the qualities the cartridge bring...
Cost break down of hifi system
Everything is important, but ultimately it's the speakers that give voice to the music.
The Beatles Revolver
Collect 'em all. Don't feel guilty about it. Enjoy.. Have fun. Let a zillion flowers bloom -- even if those flowers might seem to be ninety-nine percent the same.
Any Moon 600V2 owners?
Not that this can help I have a several year old Moon LP3 phono stage. Inviting tone, good dynamics, and fine if not exceptional soundstaging. Utterly reliable. Listening to an old Odyssey Bruno Walter LP right now on it. Enjoying it a bunch.   ...
Dedicated room suggestions
For better or worse, my last three listening rooms have  had the speakers & me sitting along (though not actually against, of course) the longer walls. Whether it's mental or actually true, I simply get a larger, wider image, with image depth ...
