What are your top 3 favorite female singers?
bdp24 -- I saw Emmylou once. Was it at the Troubadour? The Greek? Anyway, one of my favorite recording artists but her live performance was listless and underwhelming. Yeah, I was heartbroken.
What are your top three favorite classical compositions?
Another three off the bottom of my head -- Mahler's Wunderhorn songs. Stravinsky's Petrushka Puccini's Turandot.
Why limit yourself to one streaming service?
fuzztone -- I've got thousands of LPs, singles and CDs, but it's still eminently worth it to me to essentially have access to a good part of the rest of the recorded music universe. It doesn't hurt that some of the recordings on the streaming serv...
Classical music newbie needs your suggestions
Right now I'm on Qobuz enjoying pianist Theo Fouchenneret do the Beethoven Waldstein and Hammerklavier Sonatas. If perhaps not the most outstanding performances I've ever heard, they are passionate, intelligent and virtuosic. Big round tone. If yo...
Why limit yourself to one streaming service?
As is mentioned above, Qobuz and Tidal generally cover too much of the same territory to make it imperative to have both. When it came time, though, to track down a second streaming service for my all consuming, gotta-have-it-all classical needs,...
Any racks that use coasters/ wheels ?
Once upon a time I used pointy metal feet galore, but for the past few years the only place I've had pointy metal feet is under my turntable. Whether or not I'm taking a sound quality hit with the current regime I just don't know. I just don't car...

By now I'll bet you're googling the recommendations here and then zooming them through your system. Have at it! Go for it!
How long does it take a decent quality speaker to "wear out"?
The only problems I've ever had with speakers were tweeters blowing out. It actually happened to me a couple/three times. With my Celestion SL600's and my KLH 17's.  I never played my stereo very loudly so I have no trouble blaming the componentry...
Want to add vinyl to my system.
Enjoy yourself!

flynehome -- Love your choices.
When CDs first came onto the market in 1982 .......
I was attracted to CD’s and digital because wow from analogue drove me nuts. Underwater pianos were particularly nausea-inducing. Sour violin sections drove me a bit over the edge, too. The trouble was, those first CDs just didn’t have good enough...
What are your top three favorite classical compositions?
What the heck. I'll give it a go. Off the bottom of my head -- Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3. Beethoven's Sixth Symph, Tchaik's Fifth Sim.
Favourite Guitarists
Off the top of my head.  Electric lead players only. Eric Clapton Tom Verlaine Robby Krieger Jimmy Page I'm not a fan of shredders, players who choose to play at the speed of light. I value a melodic sense and the player's ability to display ...
Why are so many people spending so much money to build “perfect” streaming system?
@bubba12  As much as I tout streaming here, I'm not ready to contemplate ditching my other media sources. First off, I just have too much stuff that isn't, and will probably ever be, available on line or over the aether. Another sticking point i...

I've got an update concerning my Jones for Prokofiev's Third Piano Concerto. Try the performance by Marta Argerich on piano and Claudio Abbado conducting the Berlin Phil. Modern sound. Anger, energy and spirit to spare.
