Best cartridge for very old worn vinyl
I applaud anybody who might wear out an Argo Record. That's givin' it some love.
High End Audio......Sucking the Romance out of the Music?
I'll bite.  Not a chance! High end playback elevates the romance!
Your first system and your journey...
noromance -- you still bicycle? Several accidents and old age now limit my bicycling but I'm still as much a bicycle enthusiast as audiophile. Are Colnago and Campy as cool as Koetsu?

Audiophilia. A disease tough to shake.
Your first system and your journey...
My first real system incorporated 1950's era Heathkit tube components (preamp, power amp, AM tuner) that my dad soldered together on the kitchen table. I had a Garrard record changer with a crystal cartridge. A no-name speaker. I'd play classical,...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Beatles Abbey Road.  British pressing me and my sister bought on the way home from high school the day it first showed up in L.A. Shockingly good! Shockingly good condition for an LP that got plenty of use back in the day.
Cover Songs that are better than the Original
Linda Ronstadt -- Desperado Byrds -- Turn Turn Turn Elvis Presley -- Blue Moon Maybe in a bit I’ll come up with more, but it seems we have a lot of agreement here.
Is there a physical and ritual connection with the analog LP?
This is a hobby! Do what you want. Just try not to go broke too quickly...

wlutke -- I only half-agree with you on the question of whether older/imperfect recordings should be massaged.  On the one hand, I appreciate any increase in fidelity.  After all, isn't that why we buy all those expensive cables? On the other hand...
What are your top three live concerts of all time?
Stop jogging my memory dudes!  I enjoyed the heck out of Devo. I saw Oingo Boingo when they were still the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo (was it at the Whisky?).  I saw Pink Floyd a couple times. I saw the Tubes. I was a semi-regular at the S...
Why I am awake at 3PM. Pacific time?
The best of wishes!
Do you prefer tidy room to messy one with better sound?
I'm thinking of letting my freak flag fly.  Should I assiduously vacuum my stereo room each dawn and then exclusively blast groove-damaged, warped, off-center Death Metal 45's?  Or should I pile my LPs and CDs in a treacherously slippery middle-of...
Just upgraded my Integrated Amp - now here a HUM out of my LUMIN - HELP
I solved my phono hum problem with my Mytek Brooklyn Bridge.  A Mytek techie got a hold of me via email and walked me through a simple rerouting of a ground wire within the unit.
You are invited on a "trip down memory lane".
None of 'em.  Not even the Quicksilver Mono's. I'm sitting pretty with my latest rig.
Evaluating Classical Music Albums
First off, I gotta say that the criteria you mention to earmark your decisions are pretty right on. But if you don’t know nuthin’, a good place to start is with record label, as the best labels usually have both the best ears and the financial rea...
