What's Your Favorite Type of Listening Chair for Audio
The leather Ekornes Stressless Recliner I got at Plummer's about fifteen years ago was certainly the most comfortable listening chair I ever had.  When the leather finally wore out, my wife insisted I get a new chair that looked less nerdy.  Now I...
Audio hobby is like tasting wine.
Bravo!
Art Dudley's column in November Stereophile
Stereophile is currently bursting with excellent writers, and Art Dudley is the best of the best.  That rag is an absolute joy to read.
Yet another Qobuz vs. Tidal debate
Big Greg -- dropouts were so awful on the Qobuz app I summoned it  and its icon to the Recycle Bin. It's all in the sorry past, though, at least I hope.  I remain wary of snakes in the digital forest but I'm confident Billy Gates and his Edge have...
Yet another Qobuz vs. Tidal debate
I might have reported this on another forum but I think I've cured my dropout problem. Looking for any variable whatsoever to mess with I substituted Firefox for Microsoft Edge in my streaming path.  So far so good!  I've yet to encounter a stream...
Sammy Davis Jr. -PBS American Masters
Love the guy to death.  Watched his TV show. I have a couple of his LPs. I actually saw him perform once in Las Vegas.  I was with my parents. Mid 1960's.
A streaming setup that competes with my CD and turntable set up?
Is it because my SOTA/Alphason/Lyra Delos/Moon analogue setup is so worn and outdated? Is it because my ears are so ancient? Or is it because my Qobuz/Mytek BB streaming is so damn good?  Anyway, I'm liking digital more than analogue these days. D...
Yet another Qobuz vs. Tidal debate
I continue to suffer dropouts when I stream Qobuz through my Mytek Brooklyn Bridge.  I've been trading emails with Mytek's techie and he's been unable to pinpoint a problem.  He did, though, convince me to listen to other streaming services to see...
Seeking help finding the weak link(s) in my system and offering suggestions please.
Great system!  Get off the merry-go-round and just enjoy the music for a while.
Is There any Consensus at all amongst Audiophiles?
The differing opinions and differing priorities are part of what makes audiophilia so much fun and what earns the sport so much derision.  What variety of angels should we count when we gaze at the head of a pin?  Imaging angels?  Angels that have...
Favorite punk song.
I second Teenage Lobotomy by the Ramones.  Or I Wanted Everything.  I also nominate the Sex Pistols' God Save the Queen (I have a first edition English 45 single of it complete with a slip sleeve featuring a portrait of the Queen) and any of the t...
The science of opinion ...
I think I'm just gonna put another record on my stereo...
Remembering Lou Reed
I've been a Lou Reed fan since the first Velvet Underground album came out. During the hippie era, I'd get dirty looks whenever I sneaked a Lou Reed album onto the stereo I shared with my college roommates. It didn't matter that, at the time, my h...
Your last concert was to see who and when?
The musical "Gypsy" at the 1920's era Palace Theater in Hilo.  Last night.  All the vocalists were miked but the pit band (which included strings) was purely acoustic.  Singing.  Dancing.  Me and the wife had a good time.
To power strip or not
For my new house I installed PS Audio wall outlets for my several years old audio gear. And yes, my stereo has never sounded so non-fatiguing, vivid, 3d and inviting.  The thing is, how much of that improvement actually stems from the new room?
