Question for BAT Pre-Amp owners w/ P10 phono card? That won't do it. Plug needs to be shorted to itself, not the other channel. Recommend calling BAT. -Ed
which is better, Sony SCD-1, or SCD-XA777ES? SCD-1. -Ed
Question for BAT Pre-Amp owners w/ P10 phono card? That's the P3 phono card, btw. Yes, shorting plugs (connect + to - internally in plug) would be a good idea. Piece of wire will work too. -Ed
PreAmp-Tuner Combinations I have an Adcom GTP-400. nice little piece. It (and some others) were actually made by Rotel. This info comes from the ex-head of Rotel service, so it's pretty solid info. I dont' need it anymore, so it's available if anyone is interested.-Ed
What are you powering your Martin Logans with???? I have the original CLS. Power in the past has consisted of Classe CA200, Conrad Johnson premier 5 monos (in triode and UL modes), 47 Lab Gaincard (it worked well!), Antique Sound Lab 1006-845 monos and lately Electronluv vv45-845 monos (< 20wp...
Equvalent Replacement for a/d/s M12 monitor speake Actually anything from Aerial is far more similar. Mike Kelly runs Aerial, and he was the one who worked the magic at a/d/s for many years. I'd recommend Aerial 6's or 7B (not original 7s). I have 5's and 6's - great speakers. Better than anything...
Anyone heard the new Pass Labs Rushmore at CES? I heard them - they sounded good, some of the best at the show I think. Pricey, but given that you don't need amps for them, not too bad. nice construction. Design could use some improvement from an elegance standpoint, but they disappeared well (...
Audiogon Annual Convention Just do it at CES/THE show. Much more to do and less work to organize. -Ed
Electronluv: Anybody heard these? Tube Audio-ART I use them on the CLS - which is the only ML's I have now. Actually at the moment they are hooked up to the Aerial 5's - @ 86db or so they are even less efficient than the ML's. Sweet sound to be sure. -Ed
Electronluv: Anybody heard these? Tube Audio-ART Aren't they great! I have his 2nd pair of amps that he built - the VV45-845 ones. They are as stunning sounding as they look. I was at Josh's house a couple weekends ago and we spent a good while listening to the 75TL amps (which he had at the CES...
What are OA2 tubes and why are there more gear The cool glow on O** series tubes is from the gas fill - argon, neon, xenon, etc. Not from any radioactive elements. Though some larger (high voltage transmitting type) tubes do give off Xrays in minor amounts. -Ed
Quad 12L, PMC TB2, or Harbeth Compact 7ES-2? Agreed the Harbeth's are great. If you can stretch for the Super HL-5 it's a nice step up - more bass. But they all sound great. Much better than their looks would imply! -Ed
New Linn Products They have a new version of the Movie classik coming out too, though not sure if it will play SACD. It does everything else though. Uses the transport/guts of the unidisk. $5k retail I believe. I have a 15 page PDF on it somewhere here... -Ed
6SN7 Plate Voltage Sugarbrie - Actually the 275 rating only applies to 5692 I think - I've never seen a 6SN7 without GT or something (W, A, etc.) on the tube. GT really just specs' the bottle shape so all 6SN7s are GT's in general. (e.g. T-9 Envelope, octal base). A...
6SN7 Plate Voltage it's 450v |
