help me get into gospel Standing in the Safety Zone, by the Fairfield Four. (all of their albums are great, but this one in particular. Esp. track #2)-Ed
Who designs casework for audio components? Try Josh' stuff - art in both form and function. Electronluv Definitely some out of the ordinary stuff! As close to Tail Fins as I have seen....-Ed
Wheaton Tri-Planar arms ........ Definitely a great arm, one of the best. When I can afford to upgrade my vinyl rig I will get one of these. I've heard a version 4 (?) and the latest version 6 - both excellent, fantastic build quality and machining. Hard to go wrong with this arm...
Are the better $$$ 845 tubes worth it sonically?? 12au7's will last thousands of hours, and they are cheap - don't worry about it. get the best you can find and enjoy them. life is too short to worry about it otherwise. Vintage 845s can last as long or longer than chinese, I think. I have probabl...
Signal tubes vs. current source tubes? Focus on the ones with the most gain , in this case the 6922's. the 5881's are probably not in the audio signal path. Check with victor@BAT, he posts on AA a lot. -Ed
Are the better $$$ 845 tubes worth it sonically?? Remember the KR 845 tubes use an oxide-coated filament, not thoriated tungsten, which is what vintage 845s and chinese ones use. (Bright emitter vs. dull emitter)... personally, yes - I think the vintage ones are worth the $. Let us know your impr...
ute-friendly speakers? Why not just teach the kid to not mess with them? Yes, sounds impossible but I bet it can be done. When I have kids (soon, if fiancee has her way... ) I dont' plan on changing gear at all. Perhaps I am optimistic, but I think it can be done, with ...
I need a new Web Browser....now Safari does require OSX. I'd suggest finding a new (real) provider other than AOL. Any of the aforementioned ones would be fine. Cable or DSL is preferred for speed reasons. Once you have a real ISP (e.g. not AOL), you can use whatever browser you...
Amps for CLSII? Sounds like a problem with panels. They are really not that hard to drive. I drive them off 25wpc 47Lab Gaincard, 20wpc 845-based monoblocks, etc... -Ed
A brzzzzz noise from transformer, is it normal? The CA201 uses a big toroid for it's power tranny, - it shouldnt' buzz at all. I have a CA200 which is basically the same amp - no buzzing, humming. The tranny is encased in a machined aluminum cylinder so even less reason it should be making nois...
how does paypal work Beware. IT's fine until you have problems. Then, there is no serivce or support and nearly no way to get a real person on the phone who can do anything for you. I happily used them for a while until they shafted me out of $500 a year ago and never...
How do you clean a McIntosh amp? heh. throw it into the sea? seriously, I'd say try some chrome polish. it will take off the lettering, yes - so be careful. I'd not use WD-40, not meant for that. will just make a mess.just yank all the tubes, wash them in the sink if need be. The...
2 Classe ca 100's vs 1 Classe ca 200 ? I'd go for 2. I have a CA200 and it's a great amp. But, bridged it is like 700w into 4 ohms. The 2 CA100s also give you option of vertical biamping, plus bridging option. You may also find one CA100 is plenty of power for 7Bs.-Ed
Balanced Power karls - Good point, the important thing is that you can't rewire a breaker to get balanced power. -Ed
Worthwhile $5 Tweak Eldartford - that makes sense for signal grounds but not for AC grounds (IMHO.). >"Needless to say, floating the ground still helps."Stehno: I am sure those power conditioners/line filters are nice. Still, I would have to guess the manufactuers... |
