Dunlavy out of buisness? Their Web site has always been poor, ditto their marketing in general, not to mention the industrial design of their speakers. If re-worked, all of these these things could really refresh the brand.
Tweak worth 100X It's price - Vibrapods Neuance shelves are custom made for specific racks and are designed to be placed on top of upward-facing spikes. I'm sure people have found workarounds, however. My Vibrapods are a few years old, perhaps they've fixed the residue problem.

equipment sound bad? My chief criterion for system building is to bring out the music on ALL recordings. This is not to say that I can't or won't be able to tell a good recroding from a bad one. But if music I love is unlistenable, mostly I blame the system. -Dan
Cd Player shootout ; which is the best of the best Lordgorian, the Levinson also has a digital input, but it will not accept its own digital out signal, even if modified by the TacT. Not sure why this is so or if it is necessarily true with all CDPs--that's my question.

Cd Player shootout ; which is the best of the best A question for the group: will any of these players read as digital-in (to DA) their own digital out (from transport)? The reason for wanting to do this is to insert a TacT or Z-Systems unit in the system and still use the DA section of the CDP. M...
looking for upgrade suggestions - 12,000 to spend To start, I would use the No. 39 as a transport and add a DAC, such as the Dodson. I did just that myself and I feel it is a big step up. After you do that, explore the TacT RCS to work on the room. The Dodson (or other high quality outboard DAC) ...
Tweak worth 100X It's price - Vibrapods In my experience, Vibrapods leave a residue on whatever they are in contact with, like a shelf or a component. How are people dealing with this annoyance?
Speakers for the party system I think the PSBs would be an excellent choice.
Problem with my Sony SCD-777ES Interesting! With SACD I get the NO DISC message and also a hang in TOC read mode. I also get a lot of skipping with redbook CDs, a problem I never had with my Levinson or the two JVC CDPs I had before. However, I have had no trouble reading the f...
Problem with my Sony SCD-777ES I agree, and that's what I'll do. Just hoping there was an easier solution.
Problem with my Sony SCD-777ES Yes, I powered down for two hours, re-leveled, and still have the clicking sound.
Problem with my Sony SCD-777ES Thanks for you ideas, everybody. My unit is almost a year old and is fully broken in.This morning, it seems to be playing SACDs, but the mechanical noise persists. It is both louder and more rapid at the lower-numbered tracks than towards the end ... |
