I am in complete agreement with you on the Fletcher-Munson thing, 1439bhr. The high end has eschewed equalization for good reasons, but if Fletcher-Munson is true, we are giving up a lot for the sake of purity of signal. I happen to listen mostly ...
Great upcoming Los Angeles events
Great topic, Khan. I stayed out till now because I'm not in LA, but I can see you need some support.I'm familiar with Philip Glass and Meredith Monk. and share your enthusiasm for Meredth Monk. First (and only live) expousre to her was several yea...
Coincident Super Eclipse and amp power
I've noticed that Wilson speakers, as an example, which have high efficiency specifications, are typically paired with LOTS of power via Levinson or Krell or equivalent. I'm sure you can drive them with small amps, but people seem to want big powe...
Settings for PS Audio PowerPlant
Is it a mechanical hum from the physical component boxes or an electrical hum through the system?
NY Reunion
I am sad to report that Joe Henderson died on Saturday 6/30/01 at age 64. He is one of my favortie tenor players. I recommend his State of the Tenor two volume series, which are live trio recordings.
"Pace", it's importance for enjoyment?
Ken is referring to the Neuance shelf I just got. Thing is, Ken, the Apollo rack hasn't arrived yet, so it will be bit longer.
"Pace", it's importance for enjoyment?
Let me toss out a couple of observations:1) PRAT is almost alway good on boom boxes and car radios and the like, typically better than on high end systems2) Good PRAT, such as on a car radio, often strikes me as BETTER than the real thing itself.T...
Best Value Speakers??
In terms of your criteria, Vandersteen seems an obvious contender for your short list. Most Vandersteen models HAVE no cabinet, so you are not paying for that. Are you paying anything for the name? Surely, but they are still a good value.

In the Users Group spirit of this topic, let me pose a few questions to those with some experience under their belts. As a new TacT user, I'm bursting with questions.1. Which of the taget curves have you found most to your liking?2. Are you findin...
gfp-750 ? any comments? good or bad
I owned one for about two years. It's a terrific value, very flexible, a pleasure to use, and handsome to boot. I agree that its sonics are probably not deserving of the Class A rating, although my opinion is more positive than the previous poster...
The Best Movie sound Tracks
I'll second Albert's suggestion of the "The Last Temptation of Christ." Sonics are so-so, but good music.
The Best Movie sound Tracks
Some obvious choices for sonics are Gladiator, Glory, and Sneakers. I love the music from The Insider. When it comes to all-time great scores, you can't beat Malcolm Arnold's scoring of The Bridge on the River Kwai.

But why is there not also significant musical info in those same frequency bands on "good" recordings?

Now that I've had the RCS 2.0 in my system for two days, I want to chime in and echo everyone else's enthusiasm. At this early point, it seems to me that the TacT truly dwarfs a lot of other "significant" upgrades I have made. Cables, power cords,...
power consumption
According to the Wattsup readings, The Power Plant 300 draws about 40 watts with nothing connected to it, about 43 in multiwave mode. My Pass Aleph 3 draws around 200 watts at idle (196 acutally, although I think the PAss docs say 250). Plugged in...
