Tyler Accoustics....a true pleasure to deal with..
I agree with all the positive comments about Ty... For a salesman, I never found him trying to make a hard sell in any way. In fact, he frequently convinced me to spend *less* than I planned to. It is nice to see a guy like Ty, who loves audio and...
$10,000 Speaker Recommendations?
I think the Cremona would meet your requirements nicely. I have always liked the SF sound and the Cremonas are no exception... especially with the kind of music you prefer. For full disclosure, I am not a B&W Nautilus or ML fan at all, so I pe...
speaker advice' help needed
New I would look at the Opera Audio Consonance Eric-1 mini-monitors at 1K/pr. new. They may have some polarizing looks, but the sound is quite good, and way better than I would expect for 1K monitors. Also worth consideration used would be either t...
Amplifier Question
Pipe Guy, as an owner of both Linbrooks I can say that what you have heard does not describe the sound in my room. Actually I lost none of those things when I moved from the Linbrook Signature Monitors to the full Linbrook System...There *was* a s...
Tyler Reference's vs. Ellis 1801's
I guess I will pretty much echo what has already been said... Both are excellent speakers and I am sure you would be happy with either... I have a slight preference for the Tylers (and bought a couple different models of them including the ones in...
Amplifier Question
For the Reference Monitors, you really don't need a lot of juice (but having extra never hurts)... I have found my various Tylers (I own both the Taylo Reference Monitors, and the original Linbrook Signature System -- and have owned the Linbrook S...
Tyler House Sound
Yes, there is indeed a Tyler house sound, IMO. I love my Linbrook Signature System speakers, and the basic sound does not differ greatly from the Taylo Reference Monitors I kept when I upgraded...I personally have preferred solid-state with the Ty...
Von Schweikert DB99 or Vandersteen 5A ??
With respect to the DB99s VS. the VR4SR question...In my opinion, the DB99s are *definitely* in a bigger (and better) league than the VR4SRs (I would say there is no competition at all between the two)... I loved the DB99s when I heard them earlie...
opera audio consonance eric-3
Why you sneaky devil Bob... I *knew* I should have snatched those Eric-3s up when I was there first... ;-) I *did* however walk away with a demo of the CD-120 player from that same room though... :-)---Dave
Looking for the king of mini monitors under $1500
In reference to Beheme's 7/14 recommendation to a link to a speaker review thread elsewhere, I should caution that that particular reviewer has a *STRONG* bias towards Audio Note speakers. This is not to imply the reviewer should be ignored, but I...
What is the best high efficient monitors under 1K?
I recommend auditioning the Opera Audio Eric-1s at just under 1K/pr. new. Quite impressive sounding when I heard them earlier this year at THE Show.At 90db sensitivity into 8 ohms, they should be a pretty easy load to drive with SET.---Dave
Which Hi-end monitor for near field listening
Beheme, I can say that with respect to the Revelator in the Taylos, while it can be swapped out for a SEAS Millenium at no extra charge by Tyler... I have not found the Taylos in Revelator form to be forward at all...---Dave
Which Hi-end monitor for near field listening
The Merlins, Tylers and Ellis are the standouts on your list in no particular order, IMO. I would also add the Tyler Taylo Reference Monitors for nearfield listening that only needs to go down to 50 hz (as they go down to about 46, and cost about ...
opera audio consonance eric-3
I heard these at THE Show in Vegas this year... Quite nice speakers for the money, and maybe the best floorstanders I have heard to date in the below 2K/pr. new class (most sub 2K floorstanders I don't care for as a general rule, these are a notab...
Merlin TSM-MM vs. Tyler Reference Monitor
Chris' comments on the Taylos sensitivity ratings are rather interesting... I have a room of similar volume (14X16), and when I was running them as my fronts they could easily be powered by even a Sonic Impact T-amp that puts out about 10 watts in...
