New Von Schweikert Models
I heard all these as well at THE Show in Vegas...The DB99s powered by Consonance (Opera Audio) electronics and CD Player were absolutely *amazing*. The synergy was fabulous, and offered tremendous value for the money.Quite frankly, the entire Cons...
Small speakers for a small room
I really loved the sound out of the Katans, powered by a Linn integrated amp. I would say they are very strong at this price point.---Dave
best wife friendly monitor?
I would go for the Tylers (no bias, of course). ;-)The PCS is also a good speaker... I think either of the two would work well.---Dave
Speaker Choice for a larger room
Newbee beat me to the punch... I also was going to recommed the Woodmeres (or even the Linbrook Signature System speakers (I love mine)).You may also want to audition some Joseph Audio Pearls... Too expensive for you new, but used you may be able ...
millenium or revelation tweeter?
I own Tyler Acoustics speakers with both kinds of tweeters...My feeling is they are both fabulous tweeters, and are equals (just different sounding). The Revelator is a bit more detailed, while the Millenium is more natural. If I *had* to choose one...
Ultimate challenge biggest bang speaker
Another vote for Tyler Acoustics. You can get a used pair of Linbrook Signature System speakers (including the bass modules) for about $3500. These are just fabulous performers for the money, and outright at any price. *Very* high bang for the buc...
speakers with Ebony finish
I bought one of their UFW-10 subs for my dad to complement the speakers I built for him, and I was very impressed with the bang for the buck it represented. The UFW-10 is a 13 inch cube (quite small), but weighs 50 pounds.AV123.com were out of Mac...
speakers with Ebony finish
You could look at Tyler Acoustics... The Linbrook Signature Monitor (or their Taylo 7U if you prefer a floorstander) list for $3250 in their standard finishes, but offer something like 64 optional finishes (including several real Ebony finishes li...
Best $4000-$5000 loudspeaker
I'll give another vote for the Dali Helicons (the 800s in particular). The Helicon 800s retail new for $5900/pr. and are worth it in my opinion. Also if looking used, I would keep an eye out for the Tyler Acoustics Linbrook Signatures. They retail ...
McIntosh XRT30, 29 & 28
I have heard the XRT-30s (including the 29s with the bass modules) and the XRT-28s. Both were on the same day back to back a little under two weeks ago, but in different listening rooms at the same dealer location. Top of the line solid state McIn...
ultimate best speakers ever- now under 15K
Hi Gaudio,It may very well be true that the XRT-28s do not excel at classical just as you heard... I can't comment, because I did not listen to any on them (we stuck to female vocals, jazz instrumentals and rock). As for the soundstage and midrange...
ultimate best speakers ever- now under 15K
My vote used goes to the Mcintosh XRT-28s. I just heard these guys for the first time in an extended listening session at a high-end dealer in Tuscon, AZ last week. Electronics were all Mcintosh (solid state). All I can say is I was just speechless...
Tyler Acoustics: Taylo Ref III vs. Linbrook Sig's
Definitely sounds like the Linbrook System is what you are looking for... But since you have very little space behind the speaker, I recommend you look at the 2 piece version (as it is front ported). The cost is the same, but it should be a better...
Your ''best kept secret'' speaker choice ?
Definitey Tyler Acoustics speakers. I own both the Linbrooks and the Taylos. Both can hold their own with best speakers anywhere near their respective price points.I also agree with the Legacy and ACI recommendations too. Both companies make fine ...
Best speaker for $1500???, Have Cary SLI-80
Like Fujindemon, I recommend the Tyler Acoustics Linbrook Signatures. Used without the stands you may be able to find a pair for $1500. They are large monitors that get down to about 35 HZ, but the midrange and top end in particular are superb. I ...
