Dual duty and LOUD
While you won't find these in any store, I would suggest auditioning a pair of Tyler Acoustics Linbrook Signature (Is) in an owner's home. Used they go for about 3.5-4.5K/pr. and should meet your needs and preferences nicely. Superb bass extension...
Speaker recommendations in the $3,500-$4,000 range
Used, I would definitely recommend the Tyler Acoustics Linbrook Signature System (I). The Linbrooks are conservatively strong down to 25hz, and absolutely no sub is needed.Other suggestions I also agree with are the Spendors and Salks... Both are ...
Vienna Acoustics Bach Grand
I agree with Yohjo's assesment of the entire VA line... I guess they were not my cup of tea either. Very lifeless speakers in general that are overly warm, IMO. I don't think it is your electronics either. They are definitely an acquired taste (an...
Dali Helicon 400's or other with current Mac gear
The Helicons sound fantastic with McIntosh electronics, IMO. I think you are on the right track...---Dave
Need help choosing spkrs I've never heard
I agree with all the others who say that you really need to hear the speakers yourself... especially when shelling out the kind of bucks we are talking here. For what it is worth, I heard the VR4SRs a year ago, and did not like them at all. That sa...
Best bookshelf speaker under $700 used
The GMA Europas would be a good choice in the $600/pr. price range. Also the Opera Audio Consonance Eric-1s can be had for $500/pr. or less (if you can find any for sale), and are super-strong performers in the catagory.---Dave
Phoenix area stores
There actually is a great store in Tempe that I recommend everyone going to the Phoenix area check out... they are called L & M Custom Home Electronics. A couple years back when on a trip to visit family members there, my brother-in-law and I ...
Phoenix area stores
I agree with CDC completely on his poor experience with AZ Hifi in Tempe and the owner in particular... I was there a couple weeks back to audition some speakers while on vacation in Pheonix, and I got the worst experience I have ever encountered ...
salk sound HT3, Linbrook Sig, VMPS RM30
I heard the RM30s a year ago and did not particularly care for them... I would easily rank them lowest *to my personal tastes*... Of course VMPS has a large following, so you should definitely seek them out to see what *you* like (as you should th...
Tyler Accoustics Lynbrook system ones
Very easily... Free home trial trial. Then of course there is also the long list of owners that have agreed to audition the speakers in their homes on their equiptment... Finally there are always shows like CES/THE Show in Vegas to get the job don...
Sonus Faber Cremonas or Dali Euphonia MS4
Definitely the Cremonas to my ears. While I liked some of Dali's speakers, the MS4s and MS5s were not my cup of tea at all. The Cremonas, on the other hand are very nice sounding indeed.---Dave
Used speakers $7,000-$10,000

Which is Best loudspeaker in the $1000-1200 range?
New I would pick the Consonance Eric-1s (1K/pr.). I heard them a year ago with your CD player... That day I bought the player, now a year later I bought the speakers too for my office system.Used I would choose the Tyler Acoustics Taylo Reference ...
List of Floorstanders around $6500.00 NEW
