Recommended speakers around $10K used
I think the Megalines might be overkill for your room size (although I did like their sound)... Maybe a better choice from Dali for your needs is to look at their Helicon800s. I liked those too, and they are more practical, IMO.I concur with the T...
Decision between Zu Definition OR VS DB99
213 Cobra, with respect I really think you are making too many assumptions on the effect the DB99's crossover has on its sound without hearing them first. Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but I think you *really* need to hear them befor...
Von Schweikert DB99 or Vandersteen 5A ??
The DB99 does not sound forward at all to my ears. I really don't think that should be a major worry. That said, as you and others have indicated, your own ears will be the final judge. Auditioning the speakers in question is the best way to find o...
tyler linbrook signatures vs. b&w 802
I thought you first advised everyone to not trust anyone on here to give an uncolored opinion (I assumed you included yourself in that statement)? Now you are accusing every poster on this thread (even the owners of other brands like Von Schweiker...
Von Schweikert VR4jr or Tyler Lynbrook system II
Well, I definitely preferred the Tylers to the 4JRs, but the they can be somewhat finicky on electronics as they are very revealing speakers... I have tried the Outlaw pre-pro with Tylers before (Linbrook System (original)), and it was not a good ...
best high sensitivity full range speak under 15k
I second the VS DB99 recommendation. They were immediately the speakers that came to my mind as well. Excellent performance, little power necessary to drive them (99 db efficient).---Dave
tyler linbrook signatures vs. b&w 802
Building drivers in-house, or having exclusive use of drivers is irrelevant. I have heard speakers that used exclusive drivers that have sounded excellent, and others that sounded poor. I could say the same about speakers using "drivers you can ge...
Onix Rocket UFW-12?
Have to agree with OZ on the UFW-10... Bought one for my dad and he is quite happy with it. The Rosewood finish is absolutely superb, BTW. As for sound, in terms of max SPL it would not be on my short list, but for blending well on music and sound...
tyler linbrook signatures vs. b&w 802
Speaking as an owner of the Linbrook System (although mine is the 2 piece version), and having listened extensively to the B&W 802s (both N and D versions) on several ocasions in different rooms powered by high-end McIntosh electronics on both...
Arcam AVR300 w/Legacy Focus 20/20's?
IMO, the Sig IIIs will have plenty of low-end juice for your neeeds. I think you are making the right choice by scaling back a bit from the Focus in your sized room... The Focus really need a larger room to shine, while I believe the Sig IIIs will...
Gon bonkers with def tech...help..
I agree with the Muzikat's statement that recommendeds not paying too much attention to what people here think about your choice. If you are happy, does it really matter? For the record though, I think for your needs you did just fine. I recommend ...
VR4SR
Definitely the 4 SR is not a fav of mine (see my comments in other threads for details). With your setup, I think the VS DB 99 mkII with its 99db sensitivity rating would be a much better fit, and it will sound *way* better, IMO.---Dave
Anyone hear the Von Schweikert DB-99?
I agree with Ozzy on this one... The two speakers are not even close. IMO, the DB99s are one the best in their price class (I wish I could say the same about the 4 SRs). Once they have broken in, I think you will be quite happy.---Dave
What Is Best Speaker for $8000 - $10,000, used ?
I'll second the Tyler Woodmere recommendation... Another speaker to consider in your used price range is the McIntosh XRT-28.---Dave
Von Schweikert VR4 SR
This is just one person's opinion, and based on only a brief time listening to them...But my impression was the 4SRs sounded lifeless, and very unlike my other positive experiences with other VS speakers. I felt the next speaker up in the VS line ...
