Why was Audiogon started?
Seems to me the intent of the original post had to do with a dealer emailing Sherod & asking him to remove his ad. Even though the dealer had previously sold the item, he had already completed the transaction, so no longer has any control over...
Fried Amp & Bi-Wiring
Unfortunately you learned a lesson the hard way. ALWAYS turn your amp off when swapping cables.I bi-wire with one set of binding posts per channel & have done so with a number of amps. As long as you can get a tight secure fit, no need to worry.
If Money Were No Object... A Fantasy Question
Well, since I still get to run sound on a part time basis I would just buy a new rig & load it up with gear & go tour with somebody. I look at running sound like having a giant stereo to play with but I do take it seriously enough to do th...
Free Tweak...does it work for you??
I started the lamp square knot experiment but when I unplugged the lamp cord, I couldn't see what I was doing & wound up calling it a night, as I'll have to wait for daylight to plug it back in.
Advice Please - Where to Spend $3-400
Buy a plane ticket & go see a show somewhere that otherwise you would never do. Or at least go locally to check out some shows then spend the rest on music.
Silver interconnect and Copper spkr wire synergy
Before I sold my pre 2 weeks ago, I was using all Luminous Audio cables, which consisted of Renaissance bi-wire spkr. (Copper), Synchestra Sig (Copper) to the amp & Silver Ref to the CDP. All my PC's & outlets are copper.I found the one si...
New vs Used when buying please share thoughts
I've used a combination of buying new & used, although most of my purchases have been used. I always make a phone call when I'm buying anything over a couple hundred & when someone wants to buy my gear, I include my phone # to encourage th...
best interconnect under $100 for my system????
A few suggestions. If you haven't already, replace your outlet with a good quality one. Look for a P&S with brass construction or unplated Hubbell. If you're using a nickel plated or silver outlet, your problem could be there. Next, plug the a...
Sophia Electric 845 - Any heard it?
I only heard it briefly at our audiophile club meeting, as Richard Wuwang came down with a bunch of his amps for a talk & demo. Although I'm not a tube guy, I was intrigued with his gear & enjoyed the demo.
Do You Remember Your First CD Player?
When I first heard a CDP I thought it was awful & held out until Beatles CD's came out. I bought something (?) that I had for about 2 days then took it back & got a Mission PCM7000. Next I traded that in for a Nak MB-2s (like Joe above) so...
Just got my new VR4jr's
Well I heard your spkrs. at CES & you should really enjoy them-I did.
Avalon Eidolon Diamond Are they really great?
I heard them at CES in the Ayre room & can only comment on them in regards to being powered by the V-5x, as I too have this amp. I'm glad to know this (my) amp can sound so good.Like anything audio, it depends on what you like. You're just goi...
What components are a good value in used market?
Not to be flippant, but any & all of them.
Need a new amp for Von Schweikert VR4 jr's
I used an Ayre V-3 (fully upgraded) on GenIII's for a year before upgading to a V-5x and it did an excellent job. There are several for sale here (not mine).
1st System - Help with cables
For speaker cables, I recommend Luminous Audio Renaissance, which proves you don't have to spend big $$$ to get a great cable. For IC's, try one of the magnet wire cables.
