Magico A3 price increases 50%+ Would, could, should have...The world moves on. What do you expect if your biggest goal was to not spend money? When I was a budget audiophile, the absolute best deals were the ones that in hindsight were terrific. :)Now, the best deals are th...
New cables - To judge now or after burn in period? I am not impressed when companies with deep pockets make what are, imo, unsupported claims claims such as a cable relaxing. The Iconoclast Cables, OTOH, were modeled and measured, and sold on rigorous testing. They have been superb in all system...
What speaker do you passionately want to demo? Over the years there have been dozens of speakers I have seen in Asia, Europe, Australia, Hong Kong etc, that I would love to hear. But I’m not spending my own money to do so. No point in it if they're not imported and generally available.
Class A Power in A/B amplifiers? Emaillists, I don't get hung up on the claims; too many times in the past they did not result in superior performance. Evey manufacturer has a claim, an angle. It's the amp you don't see coming that blindsides you. ;)
Welcome Back! Some associated thoughts, I do recall Morel speakers and my recollection is that they were quite good. What I am hearing from this passive setup brings to mind what I remember of actives with such domes at shows. What I hear now I consider at leas...
Class A Power in A/B amplifiers? Moot points; class D ihas already supassed these others. See my review of Legacy Audio i.V4 Ultra at Dagogo.com Imo, such conversations are remnants of a past era of amplification.
New cables - To judge now or after burn in period? Read my two Audiophile Law articles in regard to Burn (break in) at Dagogo.com My Imbalanced System Test shows anyone clearly there is no change. You waste your life worrying about burn in. I have done the comparisons, you can read about it. Danny...
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what? Read my review of the Legacy Audio i.V4 Ultra at Dagogo.com Gorgeous with all genres of speakers
Vandersteen 1C to 3A Signature Well, taking into consideration the unique tonality of any given amp, if you want perceptual waste about 20-25% of your upgrade, put under 100wpc on them. Nice way to underperform. It's about quality for me, not the misnomer of playing loud, or g...
Vandersteen 1C to 3A Signature You made the right move for superior long term performance. Kudos!
New Preamplifier Testing (Poor sound) NEVER pay attention to burn/break in when assessing gear. It's how horrible long term decisions are made. NEVER give inordinate time to a loser component. Once you have tried your permutations, you're done. I'm not surprised at all if the Rotel ...
In general, how does price relate to quality? Budget audiophiles desperately need "giant killers " in a vain attempt to offset the fact that they are nowhere near SOTA. They need to believe whatever they use is a giant killer. It's the culture of the price-obsessed listener. :)
Why Don't More People Into Music Reproduction At Home Play Around With Musical Instruments Too much work with no practical benefit. No interest. Too much time spent becoming proficient. Incongruous to sound of most recordings. Money wasted that could be applied to system or media.Potential to skew system sound and accept underdeveloped q...
Holo Audio Spring 3 DAC No! The giant killer MUST outperform the expensive gear! It cannot be any other way! The only truthful ones are the fanatics overstating performance! ;)
Welcome Back! I reviewed but never owned the Opus. Is this another case of mistaken identity, Doug Schneider? The Whafedale Opus series Owners Manual is extensive and shows an exploded diagram of the 3" driver. Looked in casual glancing like a lot of parts to ... |
