The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation"
Here is a very good pdf - 200pages - on cleaning records. Including formula for cleaner - both manual and using US RCM. I am about 100p into it, just providing this as part of the discussion. YMMV of course.    https://thevinylpress.com/precisio...
concrete (cinder) block tower with wood chopping block for turntable stand
som random thoughts .... - lousy WAF - I think others have said this - try it, its cheap - fill the holes with sand - messy, but it will deaden it for sure - a company in Toronto sells rubber/cork/rubber blocks pretty cheap - I can look them u...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
just got a copy of Daniel Barenboim Mozart Piano Concertos - 12 LPs. Finally got thru all 12 of them on Sunday. WOW. Great sound and great music. EMI/Decca in about 1960 I think.  And Beethoven 9 Symphonies with Karl Bohm conducting Wiener Sympho...
Turntable recommendation
very good question. I kept most of my records from the 60's and have about 1000 now. And agree with others, you will need a RCM at some point. I used to clean mine by hand - total PITA, even for an old retired guy. Even new records must be cleaned...
Brand New Vinyl Static and Pops
I agree with a couple of the other comments - clean ALL records in a US cleaner before playing - even new ones - you have no idea what gunk is on there from the pressing process. I am still amazed at the junk on the bottom of my US cleaner after c...

Sound quality of new vinyl recordings.
IMHO Acoustic Sounds gets a 10/10 and MoFi gets an 8-9/10. You also need to look for whoever did the mastering and the engineering on that particular record. I have found that Bernie Grundman, Doug Sax, Stan Ricker, Kevin Grey, Steve Hoffman, Jack...
Preamp for VPI Prime 21 turntable $300-800
