Better SS amp than my Bryston? You could probably squeeze a used Pass Labs X-250 into that budget. It's one of my favorites.
what do I upgrade? IMHO, Your source and speakers are great. The amp is acceptable. The Showcase Pre/Pro, ehh, didnt do wonders for me in 2 channel. So that is where I would start. All the above are correct as well. AC conditioning, room treatments, or maybe a try a ...
About the B&W 700 series and CDM NT series Well thats revealing, about Canadians at least, ehhh...
About the B&W 700 series and CDM NT series The usual B & W basher delivers his highly predictable and useless drive-by posting. I like the new 7 series and the older CDMNT series as well. B & Ws are excellent at classical especially the ones equipped with the FST midrange. I think ...
Marantz DV-9500: Anyone Listened to it or Bought? Thanks Ears I'll check that out.
Bryston 4BSST or 6BST or 7BST I have had both the 4B-ST and the 4B-SST in the same system and preferred the SST. It was smoother on highs and middle and retained the solid bottom end Bryston is known for.I could be wrong but I think as far as the 6B's go the ST is nearly ident...
Marantz DV-9500: Anyone Listened to it or Bought? Dalton, it certainly does, thanks so much. From your description, it appears that our taste in presentation is very similar. I too prefer a more upfront and lively sound. Especially dynamics and leading edge attack. But unfortunately my money tree...
Marantz DV-9500: Anyone Listened to it or Bought? Dalton, you dont like your Onkyo SP1000? You just got it a week or so ago didnt you? I was curious, with two coaxial outs it looked like a flexible solution for my HT. Do you think the Onkyo has a good transport? I was thinking a good DAC for two ...
B&W asw sub series... I really like my ASW2500 (10" sealed). Very articulate, but, not very deep. It rolls off pretty sharply as you approach 20Hz. It integrates with my CDMs perfectly for 2 channel.
HT and 2-channel music setup - New Ideas? Harry again failed to mention that he only uses the EAD for HT. It sounds to me like you want a processor for double duty (HT and 2 channel). Though, ultimately listening to both is the best advice. Here is link to the thread in which I posted opi...
What's Good 5.1 pre/pre with DD, DTS, DPL II SD, thats true and I didnt mean to imply that. Sorry. The chip is a software upgrade only. The 5.1 inputs and the 7.1 outputs are unique to the SP1.7 or factory upgraded SP1's.I am still not sure you must have a SP1.7 in order to upgrade to the ne...
What's Good 5.1 pre/pre with DD, DTS, DPL II Bryston is a chip based software upgrade. I upgraded my SP1.7, it was $50.00 and included two chips, a chip tool, and all new case screws. It was easy. The SP1.7 is devoid of bells and whistles, really straight forward, and downright easy to use. N...
What's Good 5.1 pre/pre with DD, DTS, DPL II Well, yes, the Bryston is great for stereo but.....about 1/3 of the DVDs currently on the market have been QC'd or mixed with a Bryston in the chain. No other brand is even close to having as many professionals relying on their gear. Bryston is wi... |
