What's the "worst" cdp for the money?
Hey, I got Hammered yesterday!
Now what
Rawsonte, I see. In that case maybe an inexpensive outboard DAC. I still presume you are feeding the Preamp with an Analog line level signal from the Computer? So the EMU is probably handling DAC and then its internal OP amplifiers send the line l...
Do unpowered Subwoofers/Speaker effect room modes?
I agree the phone reciever seemed just ever so slightly absurd. But hey, we are always splitting hairs in this hobby.Well, I may just go ahead and pull those subs out just for grins. Though I bet after ubntangling all that computer cable I wont be...
Now what
Thats all good gear. Especially the Von Schweikerts. If you are handling volume control through your Computer, I suspect that could be part of your problem. Before dropping too much $$ on more speakers, use the Digital out to a Pre/DAC combo. Thet...
I had a spider crawl in my preamp A Problem?
"Can a spider short out anything in the preamp...?"Only if he had Taco Bell for lunch!
Why are big speakers in small rooms bad?
Thats "would" be in order =)
Why are big speakers in small rooms bad?
Cruz, I sure will. The speakers (Sol6.2) need a ton of break-in. As it is they have about 40 hours at the most. There is certainly a bass hump no matter where I place them. Patience is a virtue, so I'll dont plan on jumping the gun on bass control...
Revel Salon and Plinius SA102
I believe you're right Raquel. The Plinius is Class A biased. I would agree with Raquel's assesment. The 102 may be just enough to get the job done. Salons are great but also demanding. The 102 is an awesome amp but, you would probably be better s...
Why are big speakers in small rooms bad?
I suppose that the limited amount of drivers typically found in a monitor more easily integrate given the reduced listening distance.I also suppose, that typically the greater bass quantities that larger speakers output may over power some rooms. ...
Need Help With a Bright System
I played around with speaker cables last week. I have some Transparent Musicwave 100s that were clearly warmer than both my Analysis Plus and a set of Signal Cables. When I placed the Transparents on the bottom end of a biwired speaker it seemed t...
Bryston VS Musical Fidelity
I've compared and used many solid state amps. The Brsyton SST series amps offer great sound quality within their price range and up. As a matter of fact the only amp that has sounded better (in my current system) than my 4B-SST, has been a Pass La...
Jolida JD100 on the way
Ecool, by "no feet" I mean, no additional feet or just stock feet. Just to clarify =)
Jolida JD100 on the way
I loved Telefunken 12ax7s in mine. Though EH5751 Gold Pins were real good as well. Its a system synergy and personal preference thing. I used sorbotane feet first. Ehhh. No feet. Not Bad. Cleaner sounding highs. Vibrapods. Ehh. Lastly I used a tri...
Bryston 4B-SST vs. 6B-SST
For an update, I decided on the 4BSST. I made a few offers on used Pass X250s but no takers. The Pass is so deep, physically, that a new rack would be necessary. Surprisingly the SST isnt killed by the Pass, in fact its a pretty close race.I decid...
Processor hunt....does this animal exist??
Tony, I couldnt agree more. I am certain I will move to a better and separate preamp in the near future. My current setup is sufficient for now. Of the Pre/pros I have brought home, the Bryston has dispatched them all. Not all easily though and th...
