Auralex acoustic form. BTW I find the prices for Auralex (and good service) to be good at Full Compass http://www.fullcompass.com $20 is high for the 2" foam IME.
Auralex acoustic form. Etran, I do use a bit of Auralex 2" studiofoam, the basic grey 2' x 4' "ruffled" sheets. It does what foam does--absorbs high frequencies. Please note that foam is NOT effective in controlling low frequencies; it does damp uppermidrange and high f...
When audiophiles visit for a listening session I like the inconsiderate bastard in the blue Audi. My kind of fellow.
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive? Just traded the trusty little Jetta for an '01 Audi A4 Avant 5-speed. Wanted a little more space. The Bose sound system pretty much sucks. What a shocker lol.
headphone help Grado, Grado! Which ones you choose are up to your ears as you have more than enough budgeted for any of them with a good amp. I have recommended the Grado line to a number of friends and they all love them. I totally dig my SR225s.
What is the future of redbook players? Redbook is dying.
Do people find the rating system useful? It has gotten to where I probably notice as many incorrect ratings as I do fair ones. I have sometimes considered emailing sellers to alert them of the mistake if it's just outrageously off, but I never do on the grounds that it would probably be ...
Which companies also offer good service?? How could I have forgotten Grado Labs? They replaced a cable on my SR225s over the holidays quickly at no charge, even though I wasn't even the original owner. Very good!
Which companies also offer good service?? Conrad Johnson, Bob Pletka on behalf of JJ Electronic, and Ridge Street Audio have all treated me well!
Graphic Equalizer --Ugh I'm part of the anti-EQ camp. EQs are phase distorters. No matter what way you look at it, all you're doing is distorting your signal. I say instead of adding more gear (more noise and distortion), just get to the problem--perhaps there is a treat...
Insurance salesmen and audiophiles Nate, you haven't been to a meeting in a while, I was hoping to grab them from you last week. Drop me a PM or email and let me know when you're around during the week ;)
Insurance salesmen and audiophiles Why, you slippery little bugger! You ordered a Cosmos eh? Cripes, now there are two for me to lust over....
Listening habits Daily. I currently use my rig as room monitoring off my recording studio rig since they're in the same studio space for now...so even if I'm "at work" my rig is still in use. Levels range from "as necessary" which could be anything from silent to ...
Suggestions for next upgrade... I would upgrade the speaker cables, then try ICs again and see if you notice more difference this time. Something seems fishy if you don't notice a difference between Monster and Nordost.
Your "DREAM" piece I'd say a Blue Circle AG8000 but that's against the rules since my preamp isn't balanced...so let's go with any Blue Circle 200-series hybrid amp. I won't be picky. I bet that would be pretty cool. Nrchy man, good taste in turntables eh ;) |
