Where does "MidFi" differ from "HiFi" or "LOFI"? @kota1 I understand the question and concept and I wasn’t criticizing in any way, just my opinion that I think it’s either hifi or it’s not. Sorry if I wasn’t clear.
Where does "MidFi" differ from "HiFi" or "LOFI"? I really hate the term “midfi” it’s so hard to determine what that is. There’s so many price points for audio gear and levels of performance. Also price is also not commensurate with performance in many cases. In my opinion it’s either hifi, or no...
McIntosh MC1.25KW vs Luxman M-10X +1 @stereo5 Couldn’t have said it more eloquently myself.
When were the best tube amps made? McIntosh MC 30s. Ethereal sounding! Like nothing else.
Streamer/CD ripper They sound different! A ripped cd can sound amazing depending on your system. I agree with some posters advocating a separate ripper via a computer with dbamp. A nas and separate streamer can make or break the end result! With that said, I don’t t...
McIntosh Announces Mc451 Dual Mono Power Amplifier I think it’s a brilliant idea if it sounds good! I would love to hear one.

Stereophile Scamming Subscribers? I got mine in the mail and went to the website to renew. The only difference was that the website had a three year renewal option and the mail out only had a one and two year option. The prices were the same. Seemed ok to me.
Streamers and their Fuses Audio Magic for sure! Have one in my McIntosh c2300 preamp fantastic, as for a streamer? Not sure, but open to the idea.
Making a list... 1. Ripped to NAS 2. SACD 3. XRCD 3. Redbook 4. streamed
What am I missing? I’m happily acquiring cds either buying or “mining” at record store thrift shops etc. I rip them to my nas and they sound great, better than playing the cd itself. I’m not sold on the sound quality or reliability of streaming yet. To me, as long ...
Music for 2022- Is It Just Me Or?.. I can’t get into the new stuff. I’m still mining record shops for old cds to rip to my nas and used lps. I’m so downloading much more that I ever have. There’s still lots of old gems just waiting to be explore….I stay excited about that and the hu...
