Neil Young LP box vol. 5-8 soon available on individual LP
I have the 5-8 box.  All four LPs surpass my original US pressings.  I missed the first box, which has also been released piecemeal. Those also sound great.
When will we ever hear turntables demoed fairly?
After 45 years you are obviously familiar with both vintage and modern TTs. Set up a good vintage DD or idler, add several arms and cartridges, and make your own comparisons. Little has changed for the better.
Soundtracks that you listen all the way through and it's all great.

Thiel cs2.4 upgrade to cs 2.4 se
You should inspect the board to be sure.  The configuration is likely 14uf in parallel with 1uf(=15uf) and 28uf in parallel with 1uf(=29uf).  If this is the case, then you could (1) replace the 14uf and 28uf values and leave the stock 1uf polystry...
Thiel cs2.4 upgrade to cs 2.4 se
@desmond888Thanks Jafant.  I believe the only difference between the 2.4 and 2.4SE model was the use of ClarityCap SA capacitors.  I don't have a schematic, but during that time Thiel was purchasing 14uf and 28uf values.  They may have been bypass...
Whats playing on your system today?
@bdp24 There is some variability of SQ, particularly within Holland, but all three SACDs sound fine. I haven’t yet compared them to other new and old versions I have on LP. Without revealing specifics, Acoustic Sounds mentions that most but not al...

Thiel Owners
@jafant As mentioned in Stereophile, Kathy Gornik sold to VC interests led by CEO Bill Thomas. Bill was succeeded by John Wittman, who was replaced this year by Thomas Malatesta(reportedly from Proctor & Gamble.) The current designs were done ...
Thiel Owners
Finally, after three changes of management at Thiel since Jim and Kathy, a review in this month’s Stereophile of Thiel’s new $7K TT1 flagship. Higher order crossovers, Chinese cabinet, Norwegian or Danish drivers. The design has no apparent connec...
Furutech Vinyl flattener or the ORB ?
Vinyl Flat with Groovy pouch heater is everything you need at much lower cost than either of those two.
Why do I keep torturing myself with remasters?
I’ve been positively impressed by every recent MoFi reissue relative to good original pressings (Grateful Dead, Dylan, Miles Davis). Also Analog Productions(The Doors, Miles Davis mono box), and Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, and Pink Floyd archive se...

THE most sonically dissappointing (lp) you own of great music?
Hi Spencer, I haven't found a great copy of Who's Next(the MCA double LP  reissue with the live at the Vic is good except for surface noise), but most from the Decca, Track, and MCA periods sound good to great: Sell Out, Tommy, Leeds, By Numbers, ...

Parts Connexion should have them in early September.  BTW yesterday  I began testing CMR samples in my system, starting with CMR/400V in place of MR in two coupling applications in a Pass XP-25 phono stage. CMR is a big step up, even cold out of t...
Allman Brothers at Fillmore East, which one?
I resisted the 180g Mercury reissues until the DMM sticker pulled me in. Eat a Peach. Compared to my well preserved Capricorn beige label, the Mercury sounds cleaner, more organized, warm and inviting. The bad news is that the Mercury is a substan...
