What Will Happen to Your Music Collection and Equipment When You.......
At 60+ this thought was part of my motivation to transition to computer audio for CD archiving and sale. The long run goal is to digitize the vinyl.
Tidal & Roon
I forgot to mention that this is kick ass digital.
Tidal & Roon
With Roon you want a DAC that accepts a DSD128 or DSD256 source. The current Roon release includes an integral DSP software engine that upsamples to DSD256. I’m running the Roon core and Tidal on a SSD in a QNAP TVS-882 RAID NAS. The NAS passes Et...
Changing internal cabling, anyone use Jantzen solid conductor?
Of course with Rio Grande you're getting .999 solid silver-- a much more expensive metal than copper-- and at commodity market pricing, without the premiums applying to audio marketing.
Changing internal cabling, anyone use Jantzen solid conductor?
For internal speaker wires and external speakers cables I’ve used Rio Grande dead soft .999 silver foil inside McMaster Carr polyolefin heat shrink tubes. This compares well with Duelund silver foil in silk wrap at reduced cost. For long runs you ...
Butch Trucks Dead at age 69
A friend of mine, a casual Facebook friend of Trucks, was chatting on-line with him the day before his death. Trucks was sharing memories of childhood-- sharing a photo of a roll of caps from a toy pistol, a story about catching a fish dinner from...
Wilson Audio Haters
In the words of Woody Allen, I'm afraid Bo is "one of those guys with saliva dribbling out of his mouth who wanders into a cafeteria with a shopping bag screaming about socialism."  I'm outta this cafeteria.
SME announce price increase
Interesting strategy.  GPB has declined 25% against USD over two years and SME prices rise 25% in USD.  That's one hefty increase in margins!
Selling speakers to a buyer in Russia?
I would insist on a bank wire and a 1-2 week clearance period before shipping.
New in 2017
Spinning Neil Young’s new Peace Trail LP. Fine spare acoustic and electric Neil, backed by Jim Keltner and Paul Bushnell. All new material including several songs on Standing Rock. Keltner’s drumming is just perfect.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hello Lew,I never made an adaptor for the B&O.  I did find a nice Bulgin gold-plated copper tag that perfectly mates with the thin pins on a P-mount cartridge. If you need that part number I can retrieve it from my files.
Thiel Owners
Thanks for mentioning this, Jafant. In addition to supplying Thiel with ClarityCaps for the 2.4SE model, just prior to the sale of the company we were working with Thiel on an upgrade to the CS3.7 crossover. I’d be pleased to offer thoughts to any...
The Palladian-A step beyond
I’ll confess to playing Cohen’s You Want It Darker LP during the Xmas afternoon celebration. It suited my holiday mood and, reflecting upon the profundity of his poetry, may not have been as incongruous to the occasion as one might think. Unfortun...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hello Lew,The Grace F9 owner’s manual states "operating conditions" of 100K loading and 80pF capacitance. Whether these conditions are optimal or not I cannot say. It’s been awhile since I ran the cartridge on my ARC MM phono stage at 100K loading...
Wilson Audio Haters
That’s the spirit @bo1972-- a takedown of Tannoy super tweeters and an Esoteric K-01X with a rubidium clock and custom Paul Hynes power supply that you cannot have heard in combination, not to mention the silliness of housing that stack in a Stars...
