Springs for homemade isolation stand
I had Koni's on my car when I was a kid. They were great new but after a bit of use they softened up and were a little mushy. I always thought I should have changed my springs as well. Take a look at the Minus K stands. They only use springs. It i...
Schroeder vs. Triplanar VII Sonic Differences
I just received more information on the Schroeder SQ. Here it goes; Nordost wiring, silver Bullet plugs, silver cart clipsrevised magnetic circuit(no change in VTF when altering VTA), even larger N52Neodymium magnets,Wooden/bronze sleeve base towe...
Springs for homemade isolation stand
I might try the bubble wrap. I am using Stillpoints under my turntable. The sound improved w. deeper bass & improved clarity. I just feel that a good isolation stand improves a system substantially. I don't want to spend hence the idea of usin...
Springs for homemade isolation stand
Rather than spend for an islation rack for $2000 or more $ I would like to use some springs to suspend the top shelf of my rack. If I knock lightly on the rack the feedback goes through to the turntable. I can use isalation feet but have a feeling...
Advice needed for ancilliaries on Wilson Sophia
Mid40,You are in the right direction. It all depends on budget but the new Chinese integrated are supposed to be great. I would definitely go w. tubes but that is my bias. Wilsons are voiced w. transparent. Transparent is not a detail cable, they ...
$2k for new Cartridge Benz LP or......
Nkj,I used my Urushi w. an SME supplied spacer to be able to get the VTA negative enough. As a rough guide the VTA should be level to the rear half of the cartridge, which is slightly angled. Use your ear for setting the VTA once broken in. Also, ...
Vibraplane
The Simon Yorke is a non suspended turntable as well. I am using the Stillpoints on my table. They are amazing for the money.
Dynavector XV-1s What is the REAL story?
Grooves,Loved your review of the XV-1s. A friend told me it only takes 60 hours to break in. Mine was sounding congested well beyond the 60 hours. I was ready to sell it. Finally after about 200 hours it opened up. After reading your article I sai...
Schroeder vs. Triplanar VII Sonic Differences
Karl-Heinz,I love the wood on the Schroder SQ. I wonder which wood people prefer, both for looks & sound. thanks for the links & photos.
Schroeder vs. Triplanar VII Sonic Differences
I have a photo of a new Schroder Reference SQ but I don't know how to upload it. It is gorgeous. You must see it to believe it. I know it will be displayed on the TW Acustic Raven at a show, but I am not sure which show. It comes with Nordost, int...
Vibraplane
My cousin is using a Simon Yorke on it as recommended. When his Vibraplane wasn't working he then wouldn't listen to his turntable as he felt the sound was very poor without it. IMO the stand is dependant on the turntable matching it.There is some...
Questions about SACD vs.analog for classical music
Lazarus28,I had a feeling after posting my response I might get a few who disagree. I will agree that unless your vinyl setup is at the very top the EMM is better. I had to upgrade my Vinyl setup significantly to better the EMM. I don't want to ma...
Analog One MkII vs MKIII?
So what are the differences between the II & the III? Please post.
Questions about SACD vs.analog for classical music
Vinyl sounds better that SACD. SACD is close but Vinyl is better. Bad Vinyl does not sound as good as SACD & bad SACD recordings don't sound as good as Vinyl. A great Vinyl rig will outpeform the EMM or similar SACD players. Check anyone here ...
Balanced Y Adapters--Where to Find
I have a pair that were made by Tara Labs. Very good for use with Subs if you don't have 2 preamp outputs. It isn't uncommon, you just need to order it. The brand is more a concern about system synergy than anything else.
