SME 20/2 SME V or Triplanar VII?
Dougdeacon & Thom, I guess you are referring to the resistive load on the Coil as opposed to the load. Correct me if I am wrong in describing it. I am using a battery powered solid state unit so I probably will load it @ 100 or 200. How long d...
SME 20/2 SME V or Triplanar VII?
Thom,I have my XV-1s loaded @ 500 ohms. I tried 100 originally but found 500 best. I also load most of my other cartridges @ 500 ohms including the Condor & the Eminent. I experimented w. all cartridges & found that the each one performed ...
SME 20/2 SME V or Triplanar VII?
Thom,It will be in my system. It depends on the time I have. I can use the Schroder SQ or the Ikeda.
SME 20/2 SME V or Triplanar VII?
I will be comparing the Universe to the XV-1s in the next 2-3 weeks. I will post my impressions. I have been told the Universe is excellent on classical. The XV-1s can be had for near the price of the Trannys indicated above.
ARC Ref 3 or VTL 6.5?
Don't you love how much great product is available today? Also the value of some of the 2nd from top equipment that receive trickle down technology is incredible. It can often be a waiting game to get the technology in a lower priced package. No o...
ARC Ref 3 or VTL 6.5?
I don't know when they did the update but it is very recent. See my post on the 7.5 update. Same applies to the 6.5. I would stay VTL the whole way through since you have the amps. I am sure the update is expensive. Call them & let me know wha...
ARC Ref 3 or VTL 6.5?
If your amp contains the super balanced topology it will benifit from running fully balanced. There is a new circuit recently released into the VTL 6.5 that was not included until a recent release. Make sure you get the latest version. It incorpor...

Now someone needs to bring a turntable and then we have a true comparison.
Amp for Nautilus 801
Ali,I would recommend the Krell but not the MDA 300s. I would prefer two FPB 600s on the B&W. It would be magic above & beyond. I know that the B&W shine w. vertical biamping which is a much less expensive alternative then buying 4 mon...
Amp for Nautilus 801
The Nautilus 801s will perform very well in a large room w. the right cables and a high power amp. I prefer the Levinson and then later you can vertically biamp w. the Levinson. Otherwise I would use the Krell monoblocks.

Oneobgyn,Can't you add the UX-1 onto your system w. an additional set of cables without pulling or changing anything? I would love to hear the results of such a comparison.
About the new Wilson Audio Watt/Puppy 8
Hic,There are no definites. If you are buying new I would purchase the new MB450 in a heart beat. They should be incredible. Also get the new 6.5 preamp. Make sure it is a brand new one as there are some changes. You will then be in hassle free he...
About the new Wilson Audio Watt/Puppy 8
Bartokfan,I don't know which Wilsons you listened to but I own WP7s and have listened to(and about to receive) the Maxx IIs extensively. They really do show everything you put in. Maybe your Jadis was not a good combination. From my understanding ...
Living Voice Mystic Mat Experiences
I have the Mystic Mat now. In my system it is a much better mat than the Boston Audio Mat or the German Mat. It is similar in design on one side to the German mat but much thicker. It really doesn't change the sound a lot compared to placing the L...
