Electrostatic Speakers
Muralman1, you are right of course, but this thread is not about planar speakers in general, I believe, but about electrostatic speakers. Cheers,
Electrostatic Speakers
Phase, seems a long time since you listened to any type of stators last, unless of course you're speaking from hearsay.Modern stators do not have any of those characteristics you speak of and yes, they are generally phasecorrect (sic) and have bet...
Granite Slabs
Granite and spikes are the way to go for the tightest and cleanest bass and the most stable soundstage to my ears. Greg is right on the spot, as usual! Cheers,
Quad 989's
Duke, I could not agree with you more with all you say here, in fact I even like the old 63 better than the 989, more coherent and a less darkish hue to the sound, which makes it sound more open to these here ears.
Best high current SS Mono amps
The Gryphon Refs belong in this list as well.
Is Anyone Familiar with Spectral DMA-180 Power Amp
Both your SP11 as well as the Spectral amp are excellent products, however they don't match particularly well in my experience. Either get a tube amp, which would also match well with your wires or sell the SP11 and make it a full Spectral system ...
Balance inputs on Spectral DMA200

Balance inputs on Spectral DMA200

Heard the Ultimate speakers in NYC
Twilo, those Fischers of the 60s were Fishers, not Fischers. (-: Cheers

So glad for you, should have thought of that eventuality, also happened to me before to my utter confusion. One lives and learns. Cheers,
How to test a cartridge?
Consttraveler, you say you changed turntables? This I find a bit confusing. Do you mean, you removed your arm plus cart and mounted it on another turntable?? Why that? Did you check your cartridge leads to the phonopreamp with your ohmmeter? Do bo...

I need help setting bias
Audiojerry, I am not sure, not knowing your configuration, but I had a similar case years ago with an ARC D-79 and checking the driver tubes solved the problem if I recall right.
I need help setting bias
I'd check the driver tubes for good measure.
I wanna hear some "audio" jokes...and
Two shrinks meet in the street. Says the one to the other:"Hallo Dr. Jones, you're fine! How am I ?? "(Could also be applied to two audiophiles, having listened to each other's systems......)
