The Psychology of Constant (Equipment) Change
After you achieve a certain fidelity level of gear, there is no endless upgrade, but only the need to try something different. One can get bored with the same sound from the same gear all year long. Manufacturers don’t get brighter and brighter by...
How important is the efficiency of a speaker to you?
Noise/distortion --> the room and the speakers trump whatever anyone’s attributing to any decent amp. It’s like you’re having your carriage pulled by a dying horse, but you’re dead focused on greasing the wheels with some special oil secreted ...
Borresen X3."Hi Fi" or High End as in natural realistic sound ?
The X series is a  bit of a chameleon and appears to be rather drastically tailorable with different electronics for your individual taste.
JBL K2 S9900 vs Klipsch Heritage Jubilee Horn Speakers.
At the end of the day, what’s the sound that meets the buyer? From my chair Klipsch made a smart decision going with the Celestion driver, because it gives them the opportunity to cross over to the bass horn just above 300Hz (where it’s needed, b...
Stuff You Tried To Love
Jazz is a easy avenue for fairly untalented "artists" to hide. They may be fairly proficient with an instrument, but, lacking heavily when you need to go beyond that...The average juicehead, of course, thinks he is "bourgeois" only if he claims he...
First Bi Amping Experience
@yesiam_a_pirate I would say that is true if you’re a kid playing club music with the bass turned up much louder than it is recorded. If you are playing traditional music on a well designed speaker, a well designed amp with good current capabilit...
JBL K2 S9900 vs Klipsch Heritage Jubilee Horn Speakers.
@phusis , Yeah, I am a pro-ish guy...I also do know that it costs a whole lot more (different ball game) to develop drivers from scratch (r&d, tooling, facilities, recuperation timelines, tc) and i can justify higher prices for that.  If an en...
As he promised, Guttenberg reviews the Eminent Technology LFT-8c.
The now-deleted post was from @vonhelmholtz, asking "Are you a dealer, or a representative of ET?" No offense taken, that’s a fair question. The answer is nope, just a very satisfied ET LFT-8b owner, doing what I can to help reward the outstan...
JBL K2 S9900 vs Klipsch Heritage Jubilee Horn Speakers.
In YouTube videos Klispch confirmed the use of the Axi2050. Interesting to have such a high tech driver, probably a big part of why they sounded good. Ah...ok. So, Celestion is the real hero, not Klipsch. Perhaps, it should be renamed Celestion...
electronic music
I use a fusion genre of orchestral and electronic elements by certain composers to test rigs. This genre can expose the shortcomings of some hifi rigs, i.e., it can be demanding when you start to hit reference levels. Here are a couple of example...
Are there other people like me ? Amazed by their low cost system :)
-- Second I called minimal acoustical satisfaction threshold a minimum threshold with enough balance between all factors implicated to be able to make possible a minimal satisfaction level relative to the gear designs used Yeah, whatever, your ...
Are there other people like me ? Amazed by their low cost system :)
There is a price to pay if we neglect to study and experiment with acoustics... ( not to mention mechanical and electrical embeddings controls) Yes, so we will maintain Mahgister’s acoustically tweaked out splendid room as the baseline. ____BA...
Subwoofer - is there one that would work in this situation?
In-wall or in-ceiling subwoofer...
Are there other people like me ? Amazed by their low cost system :)
If you had read so much my threads attentively... You know that i disliked headphones but i MODIFIED my AKG K340 , which is even if you dont know it one of the most interesting design and the only one hybrid with an internal acoustic grid of tun...
Dog pissed on speaker
Klipsch speakers are known to be a bit bright.  Given a dogs high frequency acuity, maybe he was truly pissed off and sought some measure of revenge. Absolutely, i wager that the OP's dog is a sophisticated hifi connoisseur.
