Don't get it, why anyone would ask others "what sounds best"?
As far as asking others for their opinions, why not? There's way too much equipment out there to listen to even a good portion. If a few folks recommend something then I often use that to narrow down the search. I agree with JL35 that its just a...
My system....what and how will cabling impact?
Check out Siltech 770 interconnects. Smooth, detailed and full sounding.
My system....what and how will cabling impact?
I also think the speaker wires should come before choosing interconnects and power cords. Cable co is a great recommendation. They're really knowledgeable and helpful. Transparent Ultra RCAs are a good step up from the Supers (I've used both), but...
For ARC lovers, Problems?
OP, it would still be helpful to know what you replaced your ARC with to understand why your unhappy at this point.
For ARC lovers, Problems?
(I meant mixed bag, not bad above)Only thing I've heard that's close to your issue is that they've made the decision to stop offering upgrades to their Ref Phono 2 to SE now that the Ref Phono3 SE is out. I'm mostly a CJ guy and never have this ki...
For ARC lovers, Problems?
Mixed bad on AR stuff. Told a buddy to brick his ~12 yr old CD player that needed repair. What is the new pre you're using as a replacement for the ARC?(Sorry if i missed that in the chain)
What 50wpc or higher amps have a totally different sound from Pass Labs, in a good way?
Opposite? Not sure what that means since Pass occupies the space between solid state and tube sound IMHO. Different- audition a CJ Art 150. Beautifully captures rhythm, pacing and inner detail. Great Imaging and very musical without the drawbacks ...
McIntosh fuse changeout to make better sound
As all the power that goes into the unit flows through the fuse, why wouldn't it matter to go from a thin piece of tin/lead to something better? Anyway my experience has been that every time I've gone from stock to SR or Audio Magic or Hi-fi Tunin...
Can anyone recommend an FM Receiver that would play into a relatively high end system?
Hi CDC77, One more excellent tuner I'd add to the list is a Linn Kudos. These were $1,800 new when I bought mine, but now see them from time to time on Audiogon at $400-500. I have a very high resolution system and can tell you it sounds great. I'...
Dynaudio Contour 30 vs. Focal Kanta No. 2 speaker
I've heard the Kanta 2's and those tweeters are very aggressive. I'd be careful and only buy them if you've had + a chance to hear them. I haven't heard the Contour 30s but every Dynaudio speaker I've ever heard has been smooth and full. Two very...
Merrill Audio Element 116 Review
I know this is an older thread but OP said something interesting about phase with Sasha DAWs. I bought a pair in the spring and they're pretty well broken in now,  but it wasn't until I reversed polarity on the tweeters that the imaging locked int...
Rockport Avior 2 vs Wilson Sasha DAW
I've heard them extensively with CJ tubes and two different NAIM setups. NAIM is great, but IMHO the tube gear brings these speakers up to a higher level.
Rockport Avior 2 vs Wilson Sasha DAW
With the Sasha DAWs you've picked a magnificent pair of speakers. They're very true to the source electronics and I'd strongly recommend you run them with tubes. The combination is wonderful.
Replace CJ with new equipment
I went from a PV12 to a CJ CT5. Big improvement while keeping the CJ house sound. Gutsier with more detail and better imaging. I'd consider that or its replacement the ET5. These also come with the Teflon caps referenced above.
