Upgrade Linn LP 12 or buy new table I agree with BRF/lewm to get it tuned up first and listen for a while. It's a nice table. You might also want to consider the Kore subchassis upgrade right up front. That's about $1,200. Just did that on my 15 year old LP12 and the difference is ex...
Powerful, smallish floorstanders with high WAF? If you're buying new speakers let her choose the color / finish. That way she's in charge of the décor. Worked for me with some boxy speakers that otherwise have a low WAF. She still loves how they look. Good luck.
Help With 60Hz Hum PLEASE Do you have a cable box anywhere in the house? From what I've seen, it doesn't need to be physically connected to the preamp/receiver to put the hum into the system. A ground loop isolator on the cable line worked for me. I used a TII 220 by TII N...
Meadowlark Blue Heron - gas tweeter leak problem? Hi Michael, Your info on the HD3P replacement is very helpful. I have Meadowlark BH's with that now-deflated tweeter. How were you able to remove the HD3P's? I removed the screws, tried to wedge them out, put a hair dryer on to melt the gasket and ...
here is my delima............ Hi Kennesawjet, I'm glad you worked it out. Thanks for the info on the Tara cables. The reason I asked was because I had a "missing" midrange problem too. In my case it had to do with the jumpers I was using on my speakers. The speakers have separa...
Best amp for Meadowlark Blue Herons? I have the original Blue Heron's with the piezoelectric tweeters and use a pair of Conrad Johnson Premier 12 monoblocks (140 watts each) and a CJ CT5 pre. I did he Teflon capacitor upgrade on the Premier 12's.The dealer used CJ, so I figured that ...
Help picking a tube preamp, please Ralph, Have you thought about Conrad Johnson? I have a CT5 that I believe would meet your criteria. I believe it's the first one of theirs with Teflon capacitors that really tighten the sound from the earlier generations of CJ. I use it with Shuny...
Looking to replace EAD DSP-7000MKIII Hi Captain - I thought I was the last person in the world using the upgraded EAD 7000. Like you, I enjoy its natural organic sound. Last year I listened to a Naim DAC. I think that it is better than my 7000 (more detail, fuller midrange and better...
Shunyata Zitron ICs Anaconda vs Python I may have been a bit unfair to the Zitron Cobra in my last post. It is a great power cord, with the timbral accuracy of the Anaconda. It is quick, images well and has a nice open top end.The difference in my system is that the Anaconda brings you...
Shunyata Zitron ICs Anaconda vs Python I just moved up from a Shunyata Zitron Cobra to Zitron Anaconda (used and broken in) and the difference is staggering. I haven't heard the Zitron Python, so I'm no help there.I'm using a C19 1.75m to a 7-8 year old Hydra 8. From there power is mos...

here is my delima............ Hi Kennesawjet-I just saw this thread and was interested to know how it worked out, as I had dealt with similar issues last year. Did you resolve the issues you had?Regards,David
Power cables for Conrad Johnson and Vandersteen Hi- I'm wondering what you ended up with for power cords on your system and what you think. I bought a PK-10 Palladian for my DAC and use Shunyata for the rest of my system - including a CJ CT5 preamp (predecessor to your ET-5). I'm very happy wit...
Siltech 330L or 770L? Hello- I have some older G2 pure silver Siltech LS2-90's with CJ pre and power amps. Speakers are meadowlark blue herons (full range, piezo electric tweeter, first order crossovers).I'm looking to upgrade my speaker wires - especially to get more ...
acoustic revive rtp-4 or shunyata hydra 8 Hi Pataldorr- I recently went to a Hydra 8 from a 4, which I had used for about four years. It is surprising how much of a difference the 8 makes. I'd say the improvement is as significant as when I went from a power strip to the 4. The entire sys... |
