Other than music, why are you an audiophile?
I am an audiophile cuz it's cool. I have a lot of freinds who are like, "wow, your an audiophile, that's so cool man. You must be real cool". and chicks, chicks dig it when I talk tubes and power cords. Their like, "wow, tubes and power cables". B...
Amp for Verity Parsifal encore
the Verity Parsifal's are not hard to drive but their sound continues to improve with the quality of upstream gear. They have not reached their peak yet with my system and would sound much better with a few $10,000 of upgrades, that being said, th...
really bright sounding speaker cables
Nordost Red Dawn are bright, I would think that you would not like them with the Dyn's unless your listening room is filled with cotton balls. (I used to have C1, Special 25s and like nordost speaker cables). I would recommend the Heimdal or Frey,...
Best interconnects for Rotel 1072cd player
I have demo'd some very nice cables, up to the Nordost Odin. One cable that did not cost a lot yet was very nice, well balanced and extended was the Art Audio IC-3. I would imagine the new IC-3SE would be even better and still in your price range....
Cable
I am not sure why the moderators changed the title of my post from "Cable Loom vs Cable Jungle", to just "Cable". I think the original title was more discriptive of the question and I can't see where it slighted anyone. So, this is a clarification...
Tube pre around 1000, Audible Illusions or belles
I have a belles 21A with a classe amp, CA2200 and they sound very good together. I would strongly recommend one with the Auricap capacitors. These are four very large yellow capacitors that can be seen in the vent holes. I think that it was a stea...
Help choose a preamp ... Belles & Wyred
I would strongly suggest looking into one of the used Belles 21A with Aucicaps that come up for sale. This is a wonderful amp. I have looked at the parts of the 22A and though it is probably a very nice preamp it does not have the parts quality of...
Cartridge rec. f/Nottingham Spacedeck w/Space Arm
I am very happy with a shelter 501mkII. I have also heard it with a sumiko celebration and it was wonderful. For the money the Shelter is a great match. I did wear out my 501 after several years and replaced it with another at a reduced, trade in ...
Shelter 901 MkII
There is a review of it in one of the older Tonepublications on line mag. I'm not sure which issue. I haven't tried it.
Best version of Moody Blues "Days of Future Passed
Fruff1976, look at used record stores, maybe even place a few calls, especially ones that don't advertise product on ebay. Most of the ebay rarer records are grossly overpriced. I picked up my mint copy of the MSFL at my local audio store, that al...
Help building new system: devore, verity or Sonus?
One option you have that allows some flexibility down the road if your room size changes is to go with the Verity Parsifal Monitor. I have the Verity Parsifal Encores and when I first got them set them up with just the monitor and was really surpr...
Who asked for this?
I have to agree with you to a degree. I have a lot of two album 45rpm and a few of the Clarity Vinyl sets. They do sound nice. But, my best sounding LP's happen to be very well done 33 1/3. I would like to see higher quality 33 1/3. I don't mind c...
Any tweaks recommded for under cd player?
I use stillpoints, doesn't really extend the high end but makes it more defined, improved sound stage depth and adds clarity. I have at times tried to remove the stillpoints as I struggle with $1200 worth of little black cones under my equipment b...
Thorens Sampler 3LP Sound?
Wonderful LP. Mine is flawless, very dynamic and a very good choice of music. The cover is very well done. One of the finest LP's I have purchased, 5 stars all the way.
Getting back into digital. Please help.
No issues at all with an aggressive of mechanical sound. I have read these reports from some people and have never experienced it. I do not have the external power supply, one can only spend so much money. I find the CDX2 very musical, I am curren...
