where next to go? I believe the blue ray player downsamples SACD to 48khz/24 bit for coax out. Since I have 96khz/24bit hd recordings, these should sound better, but they don't in that narrow arena of the human voice when comparing Sony blue ray into the Dlink III ...
where next to go? Ok, so while I don't have "better" components to A-B at home, I do have "different" components. After comparing my old HRT Musicstreamer II and a Sony blue ray player feeding SACD to the DLink III, I'm in agreement that its the Vlink at fault.. th...
Modwright Oppo 95 and Computer Audio no ones saying computer audio is better than vinyl(today). But bang for the buck is definitely better with computer audio and digital has the market capitalization to breeze past vinyl with future R&D improvements1) entry level for high qualit...
Magnepan 1.7 crossover capacitor improvement? johnk, here's two freebies, work that mouse and you might learn something new. Some assembly required... laventures opinions are tested in far more depth than humbhomemadehifi but theres only a minor overlap for opinion comparisonhttp://www.lavent...
Surface noise given the stylus age and gradual onset of symptoms a prudent person would replace their stylus at this point rather than continue down a path that could be damaging your LP's due to worn out stylus or hardening of the suspension damper. But who am...
suggestions for updating via DAC..... My suggestion.Buy a Mac Mini, a Wyred4sound DAC 2 (asynchronus USB + pre volume control) and never again fight with disc transport limitations. Probably closer to $2200 but now you can step into 24 bit HD downloads.
Any hope for SACD? Why would anyone want to buy a dead end... SACD is a closed solution, you are stuck with no ability to do digital out for SACD resolution. No thanks, I'll buy the 192khz HD recordings on line, bypass SACD and take control of my electronic destiny..
Surface noise surface noise is caused by the following phenomena 1) incorrect VTA, so that the sylus makes incorrect angled contact with the groove2) signal induction into a MM cartridge from a ferrous platter3) stylus wear forming flat wear spots that interfer...
Help with fatiguing sound in my PC system sbleam, I wasn't saying that the dlink III is fatiguing when used as intended... just that it was fatiguing when fed direct to amp, no pre in between. As described you are using a pre amp section for the Dlink III analog output. And yup, listening...
Magnepan 1.7 crossover capacitor improvement? ok, couldn't wait. I started with the 75uf Axons, they gave better mid bass clarity. Percussion like tympani and blocks have improved realism for transients and tone color. But after a few days not much else was different and I move on to the 6.8 ...
Conrad Johnson PV-10A mod experiences? ok so the upgrade bug is hard to stop. I've now upgraded in the pre mains section the 13.5 uf solens to 2x 6.8 uf Mundor Supremes and replaced the 10uf Solens with same in Mundorf Supreme. A wonderful improvement, gobs of tone color detail, accomp...
Help with fatiguing sound in my PC system since both of us use Dlink III's let me share that I didn't find that DLink direct to amp worked well, partially for the fatigue symptoms you describe but also for lack of richness in the midrange. I don't think the Dlink III is an optimal impedan...
Help with fatiguing sound in my PC system I'll be honest. There is no single magic bullet in my experience for listening fatigue. I have found all of these to matter for digital music1. use PC source with asynch USB (check, you are doing that)2. use a quality DAC (check, you are doing tha...
size of the driver 1) size of the driver is related to efficiency in producing deepest bass. But bigger drivers become problematic in transient response. Sub woofer manufacturers like REL and Velodyne make money selling a well tuned optimized home use choice to supp...
Magnepan 1.7 w/ Tubes & lots of Class D Power Don't waste your money on jumpers for the 1.7... when you remove the speaker jack panel you can easily direct connect the wires together on the back of the panel eliminating a useless jumper that adds coloration when used. Do replace the capacitor... |
