Jeff Rowland Model 1
Lot of folks, myself included, believe that Jeff's amps from that era are superior to a number of his later class D designs. To that, at the price point you are looking at, and with a service from Jeff, I think it would be next to impossible to bu...
Is it even possible to set up a system in 12x12 room?
@paulcreed   Cannot help you with home made acoustic treatments, they may or may not work? However, if you look at my system photo, you can get an idea as to how I have placed the room treatments. I also utilize a pair of the excellent Shakti Hall...
Is it even possible to set up a system in 12x12 room?
I don’t agree that in a small room speakers always have to be toed in. IME, that is not always the case, and in fact, in my room, I prefer the speakers to be placed straight ahead. (https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/4100) Experimentation is the...
Is it even possible to set up a system in 12x12 room?
@paulcreed  In my room, my listening chair is placed against the back wall..with no detriment to the SQ. I have placed absorption panels on the back wall and do have a vault ceiling, which obviously helps. Listening in the near field should allow ...
Is it even possible to set up a system in 12x12 room?
My system sits in a 10 x11 room. Look at my system thread. With the judicious application of room treatments and careful speaker placement...and naturally a near field listening position, I believe a great SQ can be had. I am VERY happy with my SQ.
JADIS DEFY7, can not get it to sing
@mozartfan. Do you actually believe what you post, because the more you state your absolutes, the more you show how very inexperienced you are in this hobby.SS amps can be exceptional, just as tube amps can as well...depends on the synergy and set...
JADIS DEFY7, can not get it to sing
@mozartfan   I don't know anything about the Leaf preamp...but I do know that the little Schitt Freya+ that I suggested before is a very good preamp for the $$ ( friend owns one and drives his ARC amp beautifully!). Any reason why you would not co...
Furutech AC Receptacles
Perhaps this opinion is not one that is going to be popular...but here it is..IF you have to burn in something for 600 hours...for it to sound good, then I think something is very wrong. How can anyone remember exactly how something sounds from th...
JADIS DEFY7, can not get it to sing
@mozartfan  You just posted an interesting point. You have found yourself in a difficult position...because you acquired an excellent amp and spent $$ to do it, without realizing that the amp is only half the picture at best. I wonder how many fol...

Favorite band or artist of all time?
So many great artists. Hard to pin down even the top ten, I do think that Chuck Berry deserves to be very high on the list. Mostly overlooked, for some unknown reason.
Mapleshade...where's the love?
Here’s one thing going for Mapleshade...you don’t have to wait for months (years?) for their soon to be released titles. What’s with TBA...BS???LOL.
Help with Sonus Faber Extrema issue
Winston, I am almost 100% sure your problem lies with the x-over. The Extrema's need a lot of power...but can, like any speaker, be over driven. That and the age, means a trip to to the tech. @mijostyn, the Extrema's haven't been made for decades....
Crackling and hiss - Preamp tubes not seated right?
Had the exact same problem with a Mullard CV4003 as the OP. The culprit is the tube. These tubes, which sound great...as another member posted, are getting on in years ( if they are NOS, which mine were). As such, i think they are not as ’durable’...
REL subs with Rowland Amplifiers
Al, unless I’m mistaken, Richard had Signal make him dual cables for dual subs...as such, I think that Signal ties the red and yellow cables together per cable. That is what they did for my dual sub arrangement for my dual cables. Therefore, each ...
