Help me understand John Coltrane .... seriously.
@erik_squires  When you listen to Coltrane, do you enjoy the music. If the answer is yes, then why attempt to disseminate why...if the answer is no...same point. Most folks have favorite genres and artists...and those that they totally dislike. Pe...
New silversmith fidelium cable
These cables look extremely interesting. I have admired Jeff Smith's designs when ever I have heard them. Only question I would have, is the way that they connect to the binding post...looks like a home audition on your amp and speaker end may be ...
Are your speakers designed for your listening taste and hearing ability?
@larry5729  Nice post. Agree 100%. The most important thing when shopping for speakers is to have a home trial...if at all possible, IMHO. The speaker has to have synergy not just with your upstream gear, but also your room. I also agree that dial...
Are your speakers designed for your listening taste and hearing ability?
@millercarbon.  Did I hit a nerve...😬
Are your speakers designed for your listening taste and hearing ability?
@kenjit Agree, mostly. However, I do think that there are some folks who can actually hear when the high frequencies are tipped up, or the hard metal dome is ringing like a bell. So, IMO, there are some things that are obviously wrong ( to those t...
Anyone experienced the Luxman MQ-300 or/and The Air Tight ATM-300R?
Best to audition both amps before purchase. 8 watts/ch is only going to go so far...and that is assuming that your speaker even has a mild impedance character across the board! Friend of mine has so called 'efficient' speakers--rated at 95db...yet...
Help me understand John Coltrane .... seriously.
@gosta  LOL. That's not far from the truth! BUT consider this, every one of those notes was exactly on time.....
Jeff Rowland to what?
Nice to see that Jeff has apparently gone back to AB amps...
What if the cable is too cheap that it cannot be that good?
@millercarbon Many folks have replaced Synergistic cables with other brands..often times more resolving across the board and less costly...Albeit, Ted Denney wouldn’t want you to believe that...but there it is.
Help me understand John Coltrane .... seriously.
I’m not understanding this reasoning at all...what are you guys talking about..."for the beginner" or.."too advanced in depth and nature, "talking a different language"....what the heck does that all mean....when we are talking about music!Music, ...
What if the cable is too cheap that it cannot be that good?
@czarivey   I don’t think that all expensive cables don’t deliver performance...that’s not what I am saying at all. (This does seem to be your position, however). What I am noticing is that there are certain cable manufacturers who can somehow com...
What if the cable is too cheap that it cannot be that good?
@douglas_schroeder   While what you say may be true for a number of different less expensive ( cheap is a relative term) cables....it sure isn't correct for all of them. The Black Cat cables are a perfect example of this. Plus, the alternative is ...
What if the cable is too cheap that it cannot be that good?
@ bdp24 That’s what I would suspect...in most cases. But how many would still make the same buying decision if they had exposure to a type of cable like Black Cat...and where then having to pony up tens of thousands of $$’s just for what you stated?
Jeff Rowland to what?
@ricred1  Very interesting. I would bet these will be superb!
Chasing down the problem
To conclude this story...I finally had to take the preamp ( yes, not the amps at all!) to the tech. It turned out it was a switch on the preamp that was not functioning well and was intermittently cutting off the right channel!! My tech diagnosed ...
