Linn Bedrok LP12 Plinth Upgrade
@newton_john The term ’better’ is extremely subjective in our hobby. To one person, ’better’ means the system sounds louder without strain, to another ’better’ might mean the system plays softer with more realism. IMO, in order to truly determine...
"...and I don't take any advertiser money..."
@carlsbad2 The whole audio hobby consists of two parts, IME. One is made up of folks who are there simply to try and make a buck ( most if not all reviewers and others). For example, on one of the many forums I am banned from, one of the owners w...
Linn LP12 turntable
@newton_john Agreed. With the added point that the LP12 at its Klimax level with the Bedrok plinth is expensive..in relation to its competition. IOW, it is then possible to acquire a superior product for a similar, or maybe even lower price. Are ...

One other thing, IF ( maybe a BIG IF) Linn ever do get around to upgrading and replacing the old war horse EKOS-SE, I would suspect that their new arm would be priced so far into the stratosphere ( based on what they are asking for the Bedrok plin...

@newton_john If you take the LP12 Klimax and divide it into its various parts, then subtract some of these parts, you will certainly be left with a less expensive table. For example, one can utilize a Lingo 4 instead of a Radikal, but you give u...
Linn Bedrok LP12 Plinth Upgrade
It is odd that the plinth would have such an impact on a spring suspended turntable. I can easily understand the power supply, bearing, sub chassis, but plinth? The fettlers I have talked to in the past all assured me that the plinth was the last ...

@zavato  While I agree that the LP12 is an excellent table ,and I am a big fan of it, I also think that as the price increases, it begins to bump up against competition that would/should make one choose differently.

@noromance  Agree. The banana junk was actually sold for $6.2M to a crypto genius. All of this could be considered as a spit in the eye to the waged, as you pointed out.

@olskool   Nice to see you here again. Question, do you rank the Booplinth improvement in the same area as the bearing..ie. Cirkus to Karousel?  For me, that was one of the best upgrades regarding SQ, and also value wise.  Personally, I have a fe...
For Tube Folks...
I still own a quad of matched GE 6550’s. I have them because they are a superb sounding tube and quite robust. I removed them from a Melos tube amp that I bought new and that used these as the power tubes. Replaced them after just a few hours use ...
HumminGuru vs.Degritter
@pryso   Here’s the protocol I use. Firstly, if the record is fairly new or clean, I skip the US step and just use wet vacuum. If the record is dirtier or older, and depending on condition, I will first do a US clean, always utilizing a surfactant...

I just replaced my original Afro fluted plinth with a new Linn Oak plinth. Looks amazing and sounds better. Personally, i think the Oak plinth looks far better than the new Bedrok...maybe not as great an increase in SQ, but the price difference is...

@ricco275   +1. I was thinking the same thing, but also thought that maybe that was just my dislike of the aesthetics.
How to dismantle Well Tempered for shipping?
@lewm My ’WTA’ Black arm replaced my older Ekos 2. The improvement in sound staging, particularly the sense of depth was very noticeable. The only arm that might...might be better on the LP12 is an Ekos SE, but even that is not a 100%. I have don...
How to dismantle Well Tempered for shipping?
I just went through part of this operation when I changed plinths on my LP12. The WTA arm is a royal pain to work with. Getting the silicone out of the cup was an exercise in frustration, as not all will be removed from the cup, leaving a nice mes...
