Linn sondek vs sme
tzh21y, when you go and listen to the LP12, do try and listen to at least a Akurate level deck with the Lingo 3 power supply. Better still, one with the current Radikal D power supply.
Linn sondek vs sme
abuckteoeighty, that’s fair enough. But, you spent probably more than that on the SME and then you went on to state how you like it better than your old "updated" Linn. Of course you do, but it’s not a fair comparison....No??tzh21y, tables don’t h...
Jadis JA30 Mk2, how great???
Butler, please do post as to what you find out about the price.Keith, next time i'm up at Brooks Berdan, I will try and take a listen. I'm a little concerned, as I may be selling a lot of gear to help finance the Jadis after hearing it...
Linn sondek vs sme
I guess I'm not much of a 'Linnie'! I have no interest in the term PRAT or for that matter 'playing the tune;. To me, the table needs to reproduce what's on the record as close to the sound of 'real' live instruments playing in an acoustic space a...
Linn sondek vs sme
The answer to your question depends on which model of SME and which version of the Linn. The top flite LP12 Radikal D Klimax SE is at least as competitive as any SME that I have heard, and I have heard them all. ( Personally I prefer it to even the...
Jadis JA30 Mk2, how great???
I have not heard this amp. I have been told from a few friends who have, that it is incredibly good.As to MSRP, I don't know what it is. Would like to get an idea also.Jadis seems to be minimally represented here in the US...at least on the West c...
Linn Sondek LP12 impressions
Great post casaross.  Agree 100% with what you say. The issue today, is that there are far too many people who have a memory of the LP12 that they heard back in the 80's or the 90's or early 00's. These same people still think that is what the tab...
To all LP12 aficionados
Radikal, then new arm, then Kandid.
What's a contender to an Audio Reference 5 SE?
Listen to a CAT preamp and you won't think of the ARC REF 5 SE again.
£15k $22k to spend on speakers...but which?
Matthew, could you tell us the size/shape of your room...and whether you plan on using room acoustic treatments. The room size/shape is very important in deciding on a particular speaker.
Ringing from the tweeter
Actusreus, your problem is most likely stemming from your tube preamp. I noticed with my CAT ( tubed preamp) that depending on the tube, there can be noise from the tweeter IF the tube is at all microphonic. Just because you acquired new tubes, un...
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP
I own a very late 80's Linn plinth...that's all that is left of my original table. To that I have added a Cirkus/Kore and a Radikal D power supply, a Tramp 2 base and new springs, etc. The arm is a custom WTA Black arm with VDH internal wiring. I ...
The New Audio Research Reference 6
Mitch, that's what's nice about the ever ending upwards curve of new product introductions. There will be some great gear coming on the used market and at far more palatable pricing. I picked up my ARC D70Mk2 for a literal steal after it was place...
The New Audio Research Reference 6
I don't think ARC is the only company to benefit from this strategy. After all, when was the last time that you heard a company release of a new product advertisement that went like this: "Our latest preamp is unfortunately a step back from our la...
Tubes and their problems
+1 Mapman. Tubes are great when they work well, and a real PITA when they don't.Luckily, they seem to work well most of the time.
