Y No YG ? I think YG’s are a superb speaker. Some of their older first rung models leaved a lot to be desired, but the new models are all pretty fantastic, IMHO.No flea powered amps need apply, and one had better get the upstream gear singing, otherwise the...
Why so many linn lp12s for sale invictus005, have you been looking at what other manufacturer’s are charging in this hobby?? There are numerous tables out there that are far more expensive than a fully outfitted Linn. Many of these TT's fail to hold a candle to the SQ of the Lin...
Jeff Rowland Model 6 vs Jeff Rowland 625 The model 6 was an excellent amp, but so is your 625. I would look elsewhere for weakness in your system to upgrade. If you think everything else is great, I would do as tdimler suggested above.
Tube amps and heat Interesting thread. This subject...heat..is one that many a'philes should consider before purchasing the tube amp with multiple power tubes, IMO.BTW, BAT is one of the worst offenders in this regard with their tube amps. ( Not saying their ss amps...
KT120 back to 6550 Lalitk, I believe the KT150 requires a higher draw, as such it can damage the transformer if that is not up to the task. Presumably, the transformer in the VT80 can handle the draw like in the VT80SE?
KT120 back to 6550 Tommuch, I see that the VT80 can apparently run with KT150’s. What is odd is that the newer VT80SE includes the KT150’s, and so I’m not sure what is the difference between the 80 and the 80 SE??
KT120 back to 6550 lalitk, I would suggest checking with ARC first before rolling in the KT120's and particularly the KT150's. I would be surprised if they told you that your VT-80 was compatible with these tubes. Best to get ARC's blessing before you damage your amp.
KT120 back to 6550 I believe that if an amp can work well with 6550's and can also accommodate KT120's...then the KT120's would be the superior tube in that amp. However, the big question is whether the amp can actually support KT120's without damage...as most that ...
Sonus Faber EA II If you find your speakers lacking in the very high end, this is something that would in the long run be frustrating. For some time, I listened to titanium domes, which i thought were good, but only when I replaced my speakers ( coincidentally with...
TECHNICS 100th Anniversary 2018 Premium Turntables. Their best ever. Txh21y, please do enlighten us at to what you heard when you heard a totally maxed out Linn. What did that consist Of?Even a LP12 Akurate with the new Lingo 4 will display far superior SQ than a 1200 G. Why, for the simple reason that the isolatio...
The Jadis JA200Mk2 review---or slam! George, you should remember that ALL speakers react differently regarding the impedance interaction with the driving amp. Therefore, unless you had the exact same pair of speakers that JVS was using, your results with a different speaker are going...
The Jadis JA200Mk2 review---or slam! Kyomi_audio, you make some excellent points. Although I think we have seen Lamm single ended amps (read low powered) drive Wilson speakers like the Alexandria’s quite well..that is not so for the far less efficient Alexia’s. Nonetheless, I think t...
20 Year Old Amplifiers compared to 2017 I just sold my late 80’s era ARC D70Mk2. Replaced it with a pair of new Mono blocks that use the new KT150 tubes. The ARC was an awesome amp...even by today’s standards...back in the day...NOTHING could have touched it! However, the new amps are s...
The Jadis JA200Mk2 review---or slam! trelja, as you may know, you cannot roll in the KT120's and particularly the KT150's into the older designs, without potentially doing damage to the transformers. Only the new Mk2 models have been modified by Jadis to accept the KT150's.
The Jadis JA200Mk2 review---or slam! Trelja, while I agree with most of your points..particularly the interesting point about the cost in the past and our perception of that vs. today; I think you are showing us that you have not actually heard any of the latest Jadis amps. The new KT... |
