NILS LOFGREN - ACOUSTIC LIVE ever make Vinyl
I listened to this album tonight. First off I have to say that I think Nils musicianship is great...no question. I also think this album is a KILLER recording....but with a couple of flaws/warts. Firstly, and as is usually the case, the piano is r...
NILS LOFGREN - ACOUSTIC LIVE ever make Vinyl
Just bought this LP, looking forward to hearing it.Couple of points to note... One is the fact that the vinyl is sourced from a digital source, and a 44.1 if I'm not mistaken. Second, and this is from my perspective as an axe player, Nils is using...
Is your cartridge toast...maybe yes, maybe no??
Hate to be contrary here, but I think just taking track of hours used is no indicator of wear at all...none! Some cartridges can be damaged or worn with very few hours on the clock...depending on how clean the LP is and what shape the stylus is to...
My Audio Research experience
This thread truly amuses me. When one gets into high end audio and starts to delve in the esoterica of tubes...and tube amps in particular, then I do believe that some of the ’issues’ with said tubes are to be expected. My ARC amp is over 30+ year...
Koetsu cartridges - what arms work?
Any thoughts on a Koetsu mounted to a Well Tempered arm?? Particularly a Urushi or one of the stone bodies. Low mass arm, but highly damped...??
LP 12 Owners-If you were going to buy a new TT ...
soundwatts, I strongly suspect that you were either doing the 'upgrades' yourself, or you had a dealer that was 'less than able' in doing it for you.Once the LP12 is set up correctly it will keep that set up for years. Unfortunately, IF you start ...
Why are Harbeth speakers expensive while its drivers are not.
As others above have pointed out, why spotlight Harbeth? Last week I heard a pair of SHL 5 Plus's and I thought they were excellent. i have also heard the others in their line...and all are IMO excellent speakers. There are so many other "offender...
Replacement Sonus Faber grille strings?
Dtc, that photo is why I stated what I did above! I hate to think what would be involved to try and rectify those darn strings...pjm2116. I presume you are talking of the speaker grills for the AH.The speaker grill strings for the GH’s and I belie...
2017 may be the year for a new cartridge for my LP12
I am in the same situation in regards to looking for a new cartridge in 2017. I am considering the Benz LPS MR, an excellent cartridge, the Lyra line, the new MSL's...although these are very hard to source, and possibly a ZYX.Budget considerations...
Stand mount speakers for a very large room !!
Highly dependent on budget, but I would suggest the Harbeth's.. I think they can be shipped from the UK....
Should I consider the newer Audio Research pre & power amps, when I play records not CD's
I just finished a long session tonight with my ARC D70 mk2. If you are interested in an amp that can now be had for not huge money, and want a giant killer, imo this is the amp for you!i have ’AB’ ed this amp against the later VT series and the cl...
Best Tonearm Upgrades for Linn LP12
The obvious arm is the Ekos SE. However, I think there are few other contenders that might be worth a listen...1) Audio Origami PU7,2) AMG 93) Audio Origami UniArm 4) Vertere SG-1  5) Roksan Nima and of course the discontinued Naim Aro. I believe ...
Peter Frampton Acoustic Classics
Thanks Eric, glad you like. Yes, the red vinyl makes a nice change and I think looks great on the platter.
LP 12 Owners-If you were going to buy a new TT ...
The LP12 can be upgraded to a very high level. However, for those who still own or remember an 80's version....Lingo 1 or Valhalla with the older sub chassis, non-cirkus version...I can see how one might think that a VPI or similar might sound bet...
