Good one, Ed. I had forgotten about Fidelis moving to Derry.
Turntable tech in Seacoast -Portsmouth-NH area
Hi Brushro,There is a dealer in Nashua who has a good deal of experience, esp. with Linn. I'm no expert but if I can help let me know. I'm in Chester, NH.Best,Dan
Help Which re-tip best for denon 103R? Shibata?
Hi all, this is interesting to me. I have a 103R that developed an intermittent popping from the left channel. I can't bring myself to just toss it out so maybe this offers a way to get it working again.Based on Thomasheisig's comments about workin...
Rhea V1 & V2 NOS tubes
The most important characteristic about the tubes used in V1 and V2 is that they must be very quiet. The Rhea is inherently noisy and putting noisy tubes in v1 and v2 will make it much more so. To each his own, but I found that in the end the best...
Best TT under 2K?
If you have a budget of 2K or less, I would urge you at the proverbial point of a muzzle to look to the used market. For a little less than 1k you can try to catch a Basis 1400 for example. My point is that in this price range you can so much more...

I will humbly assert my title is Zen Grasshopper as I cannot yet pluck the pebble. :)Really good questions, Tim. I've been fortunate to receive several lessons from Doug and Paul in the art of sound characterizations. I also listen for what Doug r...

Andrew, I owe you big time! Your recent post regarding vtf has prodded me to re-examine my settings. The results are very impressive and have opened up a whole new side of my tonearm/cartridge combination.I've spent the last day and a half listeni...

Thanks for the link, Neil. That was very enjoyable! Speedy, my problem is that my "cartridge-eese" is still underdeveloped. :)
Tranfiguration Orpheus description
Hi all,I would say that we all seem to be moving in the same direction regarding vtf. As Doug mentioned the XV-1s is a heavy cartridge at 12.6 grams with a compliance of 10. I don't know exactly how that compares with the Orpheus, but it is heaver...
Grahma Phantom vs Tri-Planer?
Rgordonpf,I would also expect that the 507 and XV-1s would mate well. I don't know myself, but Raul has told me that he was not so happy with that combination. FWIW.
Re-issue vinyl vs. the original pressing
I concur. Like all reissues, even those on ceedee, some are better and some aren't. I just buy what I can get my hands on and enjoy the music. If I hit a dud? Well, ya' live and learn.
Best Tonearm for Dynavector XV1s
Just a quick "second" behind Thom. The XV1s works very well on the Triplanar. I wouldn't even venture a guess as to what the best tonearm would be for any cartridge.
Grahma Phantom vs Tri-Planer?
I'd love to get Bob Graham's reaction on your calling his new arm "Grahma". Must have a really slow transient response! :)Sorry, Rich! I just couldn't resist. I'd love to get my hands on a Phantom and try this comparison myself.
