New Vinyl Setup Assuming you don't buy some POS, which you can avoid with some meager homework, there is really no advantage to buying new vs. new. Now, just for food for thought, there are advantages for buying a little higher up the food chain than the normal s...
Is analog & vinyl anoying? Is it worht it. Tvad, I don't take them personally. It's just an old theme that obviously has an agenda. See! I'm falling for it already!
Is analog & vinyl anoying? Is it worht it. Must be that time of the month again. Seems like once a month we get folks coming around with a thread like this.If it's not for you, ok. It works for me and many, many others.
Teres still the way to go? I'm guessing that the shipping cost posted on the site are most likely based on the much heavier Gavias and Stelvios. The boxes my Gavia came in are definitely ones to hang on to for life. Let's see. About $8k for my Gavia. . . Yeah, I'll pay $400...
Increase tonearm mass to match low compliance cart Binar, there have been many posts concerning the 103R's advertised compliance. Most believe it is higher though still a LOMC. I've used the 103r with a RB250 and RB300 with great results. You should be just fine without doing anything special.I do...
Armboard No. It works the other way. A Graham 1.5 with an SME mount will mount a 1.5 on a SME table. The particular mount is specific to the arm bolt pattern and the table bolt pattern. If you can google up a picture it will help you to understand.
ZYX UNIverse I'm a Magic Eraser user. I gently apply the eraser to the stylus after each LP side, followed by a quick brushing with a soft cartridge brush to be sure none of the ME is left on the stylus.
ZYX UNIverse You're a lucky man! Now, put that ring someplace you can't get to it and forget it exists! :)
tonearm match ZYX Universe Moerch and Triplanar My last really good table was a Basis 2500. Not the latest Signature series, but that is really the beginning of the meat of the Basis line. Now as I have related above, I started with the Galibier in the least flattering setup for that table so I...
tonearm match ZYX Universe Moerch and Triplanar Yes, the granite will ring. I'm betting that the aluminum does also but at a different frequency. As Richard mentioned Thom's preference, I'm also using the granite with a sandbox. My suggestion for the end table was meant as a temporary solution ...
tonearm match ZYX Universe Moerch and Triplanar Hi Tom,I think I mentioned this to you before but I'll say it again here. The Gavia will sound its best if siting on something like granite or aluminum. I don't think the Nuance would be a good match in this case and I'm having nightmares for you ...
Where did tracking error go? If azimuth is grossly mis-aligned I will agree with you, Zaikesman. In my setup I can easily hear the difference in AS setting changes of as little as 1/4 gram.
cartridge, speakers, recording, amp? conjested I was first taught about compression with the phrase "it's like putting a tight belt on the soprano". The notes are there but they are coming at you all at once. No separation of musicians, just a blast of sound. Once you experience it, and identi...
Where did tracking error go? Like I said, "someday". :) I will take your words to heart and make sure to get a good one.Thanks.
Where did tracking error go? The benefits of low anti-skate compensation were explained to me some time ago and my experiences agree with you, Eldartford. I have been able to reduce AS force considerably, it's now down to around 1/2 gram, on my TriPlanar to great benefit. The... |
