The Schroeder has arrived I don't think you want to glue the armboard down, if that is what you meant. Part of the design of this style is that you can move the armboard to make cartridge alignment much, much easier.
Step up above Acoustic Signature Mambo Raul, can you make a stop in New England?
Step up above Acoustic Signature Mambo Would be interesting to compare Raul's hardware to Nick's Alaap hardware.
Tranfiguration Orpheus description Doesn't matter for me, Neal, as I don't have a mono switch. I think for those more experienced at this the desire to use a mono recording is not as great. My experience is much like Andrew's, I have more confidence in the adjustments I make when u...
Help with vinyl frustration? NO, you're absolutely correct. I'm having more and more of these "senior moments" lately. So you may be able to just eliminate the step-up. Worth a shot.
Help with vinyl frustration? Artemus, doesn't K and K have a 1:15 or 1:20 step-up? Might be your cheapest solution unless you can trade your 20XL in for a higher output cartridge. If it were me I'd try to keep the LO MC thing going since that's my preference.
Record Cleaners / RCMs I used an old Hoover upright motor when I built my DIY RCM a few years back. If you are cleaning properly there should not be much liquid and it won't hurt anything.I believe in cleaning new records. Better safe than sorry. As for cleaning the sylu...
High end turntables Why? 2 tonearms Thanks, John. I've got a lot of things on my mind but reading comprehension doesn't seem to be one of them. :)

Inventory of vinyl - what software do you use? I looked for something like this last year. I finally gave up and just set up a Excell spreadsheet. I pretty much logged the categories you've mentioned.PLEASE, learn from my mistake. What ever you use, back it up!A harddrive crash wiped out every...
High end turntables Why? 2 tonearms Hi Gerry,I'm curious as to what other arms you own, as well as the answer to Raul's question.I see you're running a Basis 2500 Sig. I owned an older model 2500 but sold it last year to pursue a new table. Multi-arm capability was a requirement for...
Tonearm/cartridge weight considerations Welcome to A'gon! Someone may pop up with some direct answers, but you can probably find them by doing a search. You want to look for references to effective mass, compliance, and tonearm resonance. These topics have been covered extensively here....
High end turntables Why? 2 tonearms Yes, you would think so. Still, it's funny that it would effect an armboard made of 3/4 aluminum! I may have to give it a try just for giggles. I've got a rb250 I could use. I'll see if I can get by my supplier a pick up some cocobola or jatoba, n...
High end turntables Why? 2 tonearms Next question, Dave. Are you using the big oil can stelvio armboard with the Moerch?
High end turntables Why? 2 tonearms Just to make sure I understand what you're saying. You mean that attaching another arm on a wooden armboard adversely affected the performance of the Moerch that is mounted on the aluminum armboard? |
