Why did you choose the components and speakers that are in your system? I personally like efficient speakers. I bought Crites because they were 1/3 the cost of other choices. I was used to horn sound. I also wanted a class A amp. Several small wattage amps available at reasonable pricing.
Arrangement of components on rack I use DeOxIt 2 to clean all contacts electrical. It will clean up volume controls, interconnects and speaker wire ends. Do it about once a year.
Pass Labs XA25 vs Benchmark AHB2 I have the XA25. it is a great amp. I have very efficient speakers. If your speakers are 91dB, you might like the AHB2. However, the Pass does put out about 80W @ 8 ohms.
Stratospheric audio gear prices Now that we all have been schooled in economics....I look at it this way, lets say I spend $10k on a system. I keep it 20 years. Not too bad. If someone wants $100k speakers and can afford them, then go for it.
Where are the young audiophiles? Speaker and audio component companies are back ordered. Looks to me like stuff is selling as people stay home.
Tekton versus Klipsch Klipsch with Class A and a tube preamp. Very nice. Or you could go all tubes. Room treatment and proper setup makes a very appealing setup.
I'm here for the sharing, not the snobery Thank you. There are many knowledgeable people and many great writers. It's just...sometimes what they say. It's easy to act like whatever behind a keyboard. I will continue to enjoy this forum and learn!
6.5 vs 8 vs 10 woofer I have efficient speakers, 100-104dB. Not sure. It can become an issue if, between amplifier and preamplifier, you have too much gain.
What is an audiophile? Are you an audiophile? I like music, does that count?
Got a Node 2i, what's next? I have node 2i for over a year now. Added an aftermarket power cord, ran a Cat 6 from router to Node. I bought a Blue Jeans cable for $40. I use COAX from Node to DAC. I have a Topping D90. It is about 700. Very clean, dynamic, really quiet....
Best Bang for your Buck DAC ? Better look for good return policy. Some are quirky to operate. Apos audio sells several brands. Audio Mirror, Gustard, Schiit, Topping, Chord, just to name a few are good sounding.
Are Preamplifier’s Relevant Today or just a Hinderance with Digital Playback ? Totally system dependent. I don't recommend digital volume contrl. It will cut fidelity in most cases. DAC output vs volts needed for full output from your amp help you decide. Speaker sensitivity also comes into play. Some systems need gain f...
How much difference in Sound quality can be expected from different streamers? Hook a Node 2i up to an ethernet cable directly from your router. Use an external DAC of your choice. I did not want to spend the extra money on a CD player, let alone CDs that are hard to find. Same goes with turntable. I would like to try an...
Preamp or not. I received my VTA/tubes4hifi preamp and it was a total problem solver. I am running it as a passive pre amp with a tube buffer. Yes, I was definitely losing resolution at lower volumes. Very nice sounding. And it was affordable. Definitely got p...
PASSIVE SUBWOOFER DRIVEN by a 2 CHANNEL PRE-AMP + MONOBLOCK ? I find it hard to believe the OEM would sell an amp that is undersized. You don't know until you listen. And yes, many parts are made in China. |
