Am I right for this forum?
If you have to ask, no.
Jazz for aficionados
If you’re a Miles buff check out the Miles Davis Chronicles, an 8 cd set of his remastered Prestige recordings. 8 cd’s playing with Sonny Rollins, Art Blakey, John Coltrane, etc., a who’s who of young jazz players from 1951 to 1956. Highly recomme...
Jazz for aficionados
Anything from 1955 to 1967. That’s a lifetime of jazz at your fingertips. Yes, that excludes B*tches Brew. Purposely. Miles went off the deep end. But I don’t have to. Anything Miles from ‘55 to ‘66, that’s a lifetime achievement, and having the a...
Axpona 2024 who is going and why?
No. I don’t need to fly somewhere to listen to Martin Logan’s. They’re in my family room. Nor do I need to fly somewhere simply to hear the latest and the greatest. It’s called zen. Breathe in, breathe out, contentment. But have a good time.
Going Tubing
I’d suggest going all in on tube, or stay away. That’s what I did. And I’m glad I did. I’ve not owned a solid state amp or preamp in well over 24 years. If you’re hesitant, expect results that are lacking. You’ve got to be committed. All in. Or no...

Should Amps be plugged into a power conditioner?
I plug my amps into Monster power conditioners that help with power outages, which is commonplace where I live. No hum. And thankfully I’ve never had gear affected by power surges.
Planar Speakers and Diffusors
I use a wool blanket over my 65” as well. I’ve been a Martin Logan user since 1979, and still using them.
Kind of Blue
There’s a reason it’s the number 1 jazz selling album of all time. It’s that popular, and a personal favorite that I’ve owned too many versions over the years. My favorites were the 180 gram and 200 gram releases on major vinyl release companies.
Are You a Swifty?
All I know is she’ll never sing like Whitney or Aretha. But then again no one can!
The Psychology of Constant (Equipment) Change
Yep, you’re absolutely where I was 25 years ago. I’ve only stopped swapping gear because of retirement, and having to be more frugal with my spending habits. At least I’m honest.
How does a preamp die from sitting unused for a few months?
C’mon guys, it’s an Inspire preamp built by Dennis Had, in his retirement. I’ve owned 2 and still use one. If it ever failed to power up I’d do the simple thing; Box it up and ship it back to Dennis for inspection and or repair. Dennis, could perh...
Records and CDs
Someone listens to new music? Gulp! I’m stuck in the 60’s, 70’s. And for jazz the 50’s was a hot time with everlasting hits. In fact the biggest selling jazz album of all time is from 1958. So it’s records always for me!
20 Years?
@lou_setriodes you know what, I’m retired, and been around this place too long, but I rejoice in the fact that I grew up in a time when music was music. We had it all! Peace
20 Years?
I’ve been here since the beginning in 1997. Many of us were recruited from Usenet and Rec.audio. And if you remember those you’re old too!
