Wifi vs ethernet revisited
What is Ethernet, and how can I get it? I’ve never had it, and have no idea how to create Ethernet connections in my home. It’s a serious question. Thank you.
Send in the Clowns
Still, it’s the title to a great tune! Send in the clowns… https://youtu.be/fOUrnUktTjU?si=cu6Zzo7dmxZV8lAv
Vinyl sounds better (shots fired)
Get up every 20 minutes?! That’s a very long side! Anyone whose sat longer than 20 minutes needs to get up!
Buying used audio equipment in peron in Canada
I’ve had high dollar archtop guitars, delivered across the BC border by owners who sold them to me. They don’t declare anything, namely because the guitars were made in America. I’ve driven high dollar amplifiers across the border myself, and simp...
Shipping speakers from West Coast to East Coast
Don’t wait a week! Say, listen, I’ll give you 24 hours to ship them or send me a refund. Light a fire under them, because 3 weeks has already been an eternity.
Why do tube amps often subjectively sound more powerful than SS ?
It’s because they’re old school sound, from the days when tubes were all there was.  Some of us were born in the days when SS didn’t sound so good. SS has gotten much better. But then again, so have tubes. Today’s tube amps aren’t your Great-Grand...
PrimaLuna EVO 400 v Cary SLI-100
Another recommendation of the Dennis Had Inspire products. For much less cost you can acquire a used Fire Bottle amplifier and an Inspire preamplifier. All Dennis Had products are each hand wired and soldered. It’s the best of the best way to desi...
Anybody having trouble getting near-your-asking-price for used gear ? (Plz. no hype)
Recently sold tube monoblocks for asking price. Recently sold tube preamplifier for asking price. So no problem with selling used gear. Where are you advertising? I use USAudioMart.
Turntables currently considered top of the range. Do you know what they are ?
Why would anyone care!
An Audiophile Goal
In over 60 years of listening to lp’s not once have I ever considered experiencing albums at a particular sound wave. Either turn the volume level up or down. Pretty simple. Spend the rest of your time listening. Keep it simple.
Should people with no turntable or reel to reel be considered audiophiles?
No R2R’s. Regret not purchasing one when I was overseas in Japan while in the Navy. All the gear in the early 70’s was state of the art back then. Marantz, Sansui, Pioneer, etc. Same for camera gear, another money pit, if you decided to begin phot...
«40% Of Audiophiles Are Dying And No One Is Doing Anything About It!»
I grew up with AM radio listening to pop hits, and jazz. I was never bored. Many in my generation played instruments, studied music in school, marched in parades while playing our instruments. Personally, I played in the school band. Brought my t...
Karen Carpeneter died 42 years ago.
Karen’s beautiful voice was like sitting by the fire on a cold winter’s night, and kicking back with your favorite drink, thinking, it just doesn’t get any better than this… I’m a jazz man. But I grew up in the 60’s and became accustomed to Karen...
12au7 tube?
I like reliability in tubes. I’ve never been let down by Gold Lions, and their performance is very good. And you can get them for a song on USAudioMart.
Looking for a simple system
There are exceptional used Tube Integrated’s in today’s market. I’d start there, save some money and then select speakers. I’d forget all about streaming. I’d spend my money on cd’s or vinyl, or like I have, both. When you left 20 years ago the i...
