VPI Industries---Love the Company as Much as their Turntables
VPI made turntable cleaning machines when no one else were making them. Kudos to them!!!
MoFi v/s UHQR
I have both. and generally prefer the AP releases. Each recording varies on performance. Being a jazz man I recently acquired a Mofi 45 rpm limited pressing of an Aretha Franklin Gold pressing that sells for $200, and up from many sellers, for $85...
Is there a clear definition of what "Integrated" means?
There’s a LOT of extremely great performing 1 box solutions, aka integrated amplifiers.
Need new pre amp
Definitely buy a used BAT preamp for warmth. I’ve had many, and I’ll never own a different brand!
I want to buy new speakers for 50,000 and see it used for 30,000, what should I do?
Buy used from a reputable seller with a guaranteed return. Pocket the $20k and enjoy!
You're not a true audiophile unless...
Unless you have tubes and a turntable! :)
Where Do I Go from Here?
It’s not worth blowing your retirement savings! By all means, be happy and content with what you have, for it’s a lot better than most. Simply enjoy it!
Jazz for aficionados
It’s fabulous to see this thread getting so much love here on AG. I would have never guessed there were so many jazz listeners here. Keep the flame burning, and on vinyl if you’ve got it!
Experience purchasing a used high-end cartridge
I’ve purchased a couple used cartridges. A Grado ReF Platinum was only $250. But I did acquire a Benz Ace SL for $650. The cartridge was sold by a dealer with a guarantee so truly no risk. I’d owned the cartridge some 12 years earlier and had been...
Enjoying "Affordable" Equipment
I’m very content with a Marantz TT15S mated to a Benz Ace MC cartridge. That’s only a $2k investment. On the lower end I’ve a JVC QLY55F mated to a ClearAudio Virtuoso V1 MM cartridge that delivers phenomenal performance for the price. I’ve also g...
Anyone at home at Krell?
Some of these comments are inhumane and downright rude. Remember, there’s always a moment to choose to be kind. This audio world is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Life happens. I could not afford Krell. But I always envied those that...
That Transformational piece of Gear We All Wish For
I miss my old Plinius SA100mklll!
Does it have to sound good for you to like it?
If it’s not Karajan, forget about it. This from a jazz guy!
What was the most expensive record that you ever bought ?
$125 for my holy grail of a rare 180 gram LP of Tower of Power’s 1970 East Bay Grease. Sparkling in the Sand was the cut on the album that’s beyond perfection. I couldn’t tell you what the other songs are because I’ve never listened to them. So ye...
Would you still pay $10k or more for a turntable not full analog front end these days ?
Vinyl. But you don’t need a $10k rig. That’s simply unnecessary!
