Open Baffle Opinions - I Won't go back to Boxed Speakers Evr Again (maybe....)
I agree with the OP. Once you’ve experienced OB’s you’ll never listen to a box again. Fact is, my first set of speakers were boxes but featured a Heil AMT. I enjoyed them immensely. Since 1980 I’ve owned electrostatics. In 2010 I discovered OB’s m...
Samsung flat screen TV’s
I’ve a Samsung KS8000 bought in 2016 that’s used in my main room. It’s worked flawlessly for 6 years and still going strong. I’ve also got an OLED E6 that I bought in 2017 that’s rarely even used in the bedroom along with an Oppo 203. Great pictur...
CD v Streamed
Compression? How about cd vs vinyl.
Lack of Female Representation
“She would never consider posting on Audiogon, which she would find tedious, boring, and a waste of time, but she is way more interested in her relationships with family and friends and sharing photos and stories, in person, on the phone, or on Fa...
Where are the young audiophiles?
Look at the bright side. We got Class A. They got crap!
I'm here for the sharing, not the snobery
Back in 1997, when I joined, this place and Audio WEB, were simply very kewl! This place has changed a lot since then. But after 24 years I accept it. It’s only the internet. Don’t take anyone too seriously.
recommendation for a high end analog system
Listen to jazz.
Is $2,844 too much to pay for a fuse?
Yes. End of story.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Bossa Nova, and some Stan Getz. And if I have time I’ll toss on some Keith Jarrett. But there’s always tomorrow.
Speakers The single most critical component
It’s truly not complicated. For me it’s ML Summits. Everyone has their own favorite. Personally, I don’t care for boxes. Even open baffles are good. So, there you go.
Favorite cable brand.
Whatever is under $300
What is an audiophile? Are you an audiophile?
If that means, do I enjoy listening to music regularly? Then yes.
What Makes your System Special?
Well, I own it, meaning it’s paid for. Mostly bought used, saving lots of money. Most expensive were Martin Logan Summits, bought new. But all Class A Plinius, and Threshold gear and a few tube integrated’s. It’s all the audio I need. As Eastwood ...
How many vinyl albums do you own you listen to?
About 9000. I’ve been collecting since 1973 during a stint in the Navy. The Navy Exchange sold new for $5 a pop back then. During 9 months on Guam we bought a ton of albums. Mostly a 100 70’s RnB and the rest are jazz. We can’t get enough jazz you...
Do you care about car audio?
Upgrade car audio? Heavens no. Most car systems have gotten pretty good in the past 15-20 years. And I don’t need subwoofers in the trunk because I only listen to jazz. I’m good!
