How come there is no thread on the RealityCheck?
Stanhifi has a valid point. It's apparent there are people who have posted here that are happy with the product and see value in it. That is fine as this forum is a way to share their experiences with others like myself who are curious and read th...
Help cleaning LPs, residue left behind
I just started using RRL fluids with my VPI machine. So far the results have been positive and that is just using the wash. I'm getting some deep cleaner as well and imagine the double cleansing should help even more.
Review: Audio Mirror D-1 DA converter
Sonics1,Congratulations on the purchase of the D1. It is a great DAC. As Brownsfan says let it burn in and you will be rewarded nicely. My burn-in period seemed be to a bit longer than 100 hours. I noticed improvement up to about 300 hours. In any...
What is a good phono stage
Under $2000 you should consider Decware ZP 1.5 or 2.0, K&K, and my favorite, the Hagerman Trumpet. All are tubed and come with a 30 day trial period.
Phonostage pairing?
Chazzbo,I may be misinterpreting your response but I own a Whest and while it does not have the controls that the EAR 324, Rhea, or Steelhead have, you don't have to pop the top to adjust the cartridge load settings (if that was what you were refe...
Best moderately priced tube amp stands?
David,http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?accsrack&1135087872Try this URL. His username is tateb.Your price seems okay, he may be able to do better, but then again it depends on what he has in stock versus if he has to order more stock. If ...
Best moderately priced tube amp stands?
Look for an ad here on Audiogon for Ultrasonic stands. Contact Tate and he can cut you a nice piece of acrylic at a great price. He may also have a demo stand available that meets your needs. Great guy to deal with.
alphacore users break in question
My MI-2 Veracity cables are 10', required little burn in (less than 48 hours) and had the Zobel network already built into them from the factory (I also use the AlphaCore jumpers). They have sounded great from the get go. I hope you're able to fig...
older dacs
I'll second the Audio Mirror, but you should also check in to the Channel Islands Audio DAC with separate power supply. I had a chance to hear in Dusty's listening room and it was very impressive. It is in your budget and has a 30 day trial period .
TRL Marantz Sa-14
Jack,I think the combination of the TRL Audio Mirror with the TRL Alesis Masterlink is one that is a match made in heaven. Having said that I have also heard the TRL Audio Mirror with a Sound Odyssey modified Music Hall CD-25. The result was very ...
Differences in tube sounds: 6550 / EL34
I agree with Trelja on the tradeoff of a good EL-34 tube. I am using NOS Siemens EL-34's (12) in my Cary V12i. This amp also accepts other tubes including KT-88, KT-77, KT-66, or 6550. At the outset I was intent on tube rolling with others besides...
Theory about Cary amps and their reviewers
I would have to say I have had nothing but positive experiences with Cary equipment. Currently I own the V12i amp, SLP-98L preamp, and PH-301 phono stage. All have been very reliable, no breakdowns or other issues, and when I call Cary to ask ques...
Speaker Cable suggestions
Alpha Core: www.alphacore.com sells premade and DIY cables. Great prices and great sound IMO. I have the MI-2 Veracity.
What should be my next phono stage after ear834
The Hagerman Trumpet with a nice step-up transformer (I use the K&K step-up which comes in kit form but Kevin Carter will build it for you for a nominal fee) will be hard to beat if you're set on tubes. It is well within your price range at $2...
Tube Phonostage help
Case04,Feel free to email me if you like, but I'll outline a couple things here that may help you out. The Decware phono stages are a good value and Steve Deckert is exceptional to work with. While I chose the Hagerman Trumpet over the Decware it ...
