Loudspeaker designer/manufacturer John DeVore shows reviewer Ken Micallef his system.
@prof The Super Low Noise RAM 6922 are expensive but if you like the 5751 you will love the 6922. Also, no tariffs, we have hundreds in stock as Roger would buy thousands of tubes at a time. Contact us via our website and let's chat. I wish more p...

@bdp24 thanks for posting. this. Not sure how I missed it but nice to know John DeVore liked the RM-10 with his speakers. There were two keys to enabling that amp to get 35 watts out of a pair of EL-84s. One was using a voltage doubler to put 700V...
I bought 4 subwoofers and I'm absolutely not doing a DBA! Hah!
I have 4 of the RSS265HF-8 woofers sitting around doing nothing that I was going to sell. Now you have given me something to think about as I need to downsize as well. My bass array is taking up too much space since not only does it include 4 woof...
RM-9 Wiring Diagram
The company hasn't ceased operation. All schematics and many other resources we have are now online here: https://www.ramtubes.com/resources Note that Roger wasn't one to update schematics often, if at all. So what you see is the best we have. I...
Tubes and less sensitive speakers
The Music Reference RM-200 MkII might make for a nice amplifier choice for Maggies as @bdp24 noted. One of the reasons is that it is one of the few if not only amplifiers with a tube output stage that outputs more power into lower impedance loads....
Need recommendation for repair service in CA bay area - McCormack DNA-1
Give Scott Frankland Associates a call. They are in San Jose. Scott is a very competent engineer and does repairs on both solid state and tube equipment.
Is Subwoofer Elevation a Viable Option?
In a multi sub system Earl Geddes recommended placement of one of the subs so that it is closer to the ceiling than the floor. The point made regarding not doing this with REL subs should be considered, but it looks like you have an SVS sub as wel...
Your journey with lower-watt tube amps -- Can a kit be good enough?
@hilde45 I will keep it simple, it should always be about the circuit design. Whether the circuit is executed on a board or hand wired should not matter. What matters is starting with a well thought out circuit design. It's helpful if the design i...
Your journey with lower-watt tube amps -- Can a kit be good enough?
Listen to the advice from @atmasphere but take the advice from @carlsbad2 with a grain of salt. The whole point to point vs circuit board argument has many intangibles that need to be considered. It's not black and white. I also would not focus so...
ANK L5 Mentor Preamp Kit.
I built an L5 Mentor and it's a nice project for a DIYer. I put Sophia rectifiers in it as the stock rectifiers were microphonic. The preamp sounds every bit as good as others I have had in my system that cost more. I'm actually getting ready to l...
Krell Moves to new location
@jea48 Arnold Martinez is no longer with Krell. Wasn't with them very long, Rondi hired him shortly before she died.
6SN7GT VT231 TUBES
I've always used Raytheon VT-231 tubes. Since I have my own computer tune tester I find samples on eBay for the most part. If I use a tube vendor my go to people are Andy Bouwman at Vintage Tube Services and Brent Jesse.
Spatial Audio Raven Preamp
@donsachs mentions the Bottlehead kit as an option for DIY enthusiasts. I would like to note for those of you whose budget won't allow for the purchase of a Raven, and are willing to take on a DIY project, you can purchase an Audio Note Kits (ANK)...
Passive preamp question
@thecarpathian Let's say you have a 10k attenuator. It could be a potentiometer, ladder or shunt type, but that attenuator will have a maximum output impedance of 10k, and the output impedance also varies based where you set the position of the at...
