kenjit ... If I was in charge of the speaker industry half of the speakers we see wouldnt be allowed ... But you’re not. As a consequence, we have something known as "freedom of choice." You might want to consider why that bothers you so ...

I'd consider a better phono stage for the SOTA before chasing a better turntable.
Advice on Repairs for Audio Research VT100 Mk II
edward78 ... As to the burden if an issue comes up later, the shop will bear this burden for only 6 months, which is the guarantee they’re offering. It’s better than nothing, but not exactly confidence inspiring ... this amp already feels...
VPI SDS blinking display
You can test whether the motor works by plugging it directly into the wall, where of course you'll be stuck at 33 1/3. The SDS does have a known "failure mode" for which Steve at VAS Audio has a preventative mod. He can probably repair it for you,...

Advice on Repairs for Audio Research VT100 Mk II
It's a fact of life that most tube amplifiers require periodic maintenance and ARC is no exception. I don't think it makes sense to quibble with your tech any more than it makes sense to quibble with your mechanic. Some ARC owners are comfy swappi...

Do Costly XLR Cables Make A Difference?
There are quite a few opinions here, but the best advice is for you to borrow cables from a local dealer or the Cable Co. and decide for yourself. There are so many variables, even aside from personal preference.
Digital is far better than vinyl
arafiq I wish we could stop seeing it as an either/or proposition and realize that both formats can perform at the same level in 2022. Exactly and, in fact, it is not an either/or proposition. And it's the same with most of audio's other ...
Welcome to Hell, here's your 8-Track
The worst consumer audio format ever, and by a wide margin.
ARC ref 110 tube bias prob
willmarchant ... the tube I had in place when the resistor blew, I’d moved to another position as a slave tube ... Why? It's guaranteed to fail again, sooner rather than later.
How crucial is the quality of a digital cable?
clearthinker Clock error is the bane of digital audio and cannot be properly fixed. If that’s true, how do you account for the many extraordinary recordings that have been made directly to digital? Analogue has its own clock because the ...
