Mains sockets and star earth - can anyone explain?
lollipopguild12 Surely, a neighbouring wall plate will have its earth connected to every other wall plate in the room by parallel wiring between the plates. In the US, it's much more likely that the wiring is done in series, and that's the pro...
Help optimizing my streaming setup
erik_squires I’m concerned about an electromagnetically induced surge damaging any of the six pieces of gear I put it before the switch. What could cause that? ... It turns out that inside a building isolators are better surge protectors...
Help me understand cartridge alignment
dhcod I expected to hear the distortion if it was off by that much which is the point of the question. That you couldn't hear any distortion suggests problems elsewhere in the system, such as a sworn stylus, improper P2S, turntable way ou...
The revolution has begun!
ricevs asvjerry, so if you fill the page with post after post of nonesense it will make the thread irrelevant? Some people come here for reasons other than to discuss audio or music. I guess he’s one of them. I don’t understand it - it ...

If your overhang is off by 5mm, you're not doing your LPs any favors by playing them with it.
I can't believe this.
ozzy The Denon will only record up to 24/96hz. Ahhhh, you are correct. How odd! (Not odd that you're correct, the 96kHzlimit is odd.)
I can't believe this.
ozzy The Denon is not available, and I wonder if the Korg is new production or just old new stock? B&H shows the Denon will be in stock on Jan. 9. Not too bad. Dunno about the Korg. It still shows on the company website, FWIW.
The best plug in filter ever!
dogberry I don't intend to force 'my preferences' on anyone ... The issue comes along when they say to others that they should buy it too. Then we need just even a little teeny bit of evidence. No? Empirical evidence is evidence.
I can't believe this.
ozzy the Korg, MR 2000s is no longer available. You can order direct. There is also the Denon DN-900R. In stock here.
The best plug in filter ever!
dogberry You didn’t do the blinded trial I suggested to you? Where someone else plugs it in, or unplugs it? You do understand, don’t you, that doing it yourself means very little given all the biases ... Perhaps it means "very little" to you...
I can't believe this.
ozzy .. there are currently no HR 24/192 hz. stand-alone digital recorders that are not tied to a computer that I can find ... If you know of one, please share. There's the Korg.
DC entering my amp?
▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲▲ This device is to block DC on an AC line. That’s not the OP’s problem, which is ostensibly DC on the output. If an amp’s DC protection is engaged, I’d check its output caps first. But how do you know it’s a DC fault that’s triggering...
Advantage using one electrical leg for audio system?
If it bothers you, an electrician can probably move wires around in your panel to keep both lines on the same leg.
Network Switches
macdude " ... your digital player system can only exert less than 60% of its performance without adding a network switch ... " Why would that be?
Has anyone been able to define well or measure differences between vinyl and digital?
thespeakerdude I do think vinyl done well, excellent pressing (clean), good turntable, good cartridge, all properly setup sounds very good. I don't think you need to spend $50K either. $10K maybe. If you're talking about new prices, I don't th...
