Balanced cables
ronresDo balanced interconnects, perhaps because of common mode noise rejection, tend to suppress even order harmonics?I don't think so, or even understand how that could be possible.
Balanced cables
handymannBalanced cables are a huge asset ... You have two separate signal wires, both shielded by the woven mesh. This eliminates possible 60hz hum, or IR interference, that can and sometimes will present itself, when using SE cables.Again,...

transaudio The reason most pros use XLR is noise floor- having a shield that encloses the positive and negative audio cable inside to protect it from outside noise.  No, pros use balanced XLR cables because of their Common Mode Rejection Ra...

The Mission Impossible theme is in 5/4 time, which composer Lalo Schifrin is said to have joked is for people with five legs.

Doesn't the Bose Equalizer work at line level? if so, connecting the sub to one set of speaker outputs and the Bose pair to another won't work.
Low level buzzing coming from tweeters.
atmasphere... you are far better off if the ground is tied to the water mains as is traditional. Stakes in the ground tend to be variable, and if the ground connection is indeed on the water mains, the stake in the ground should not be used at...
Infinity RS1B ? Buy or runaway
This is a tough call. I had an RS1-B system for years until Infinity replaced it with the IRS Beta, which is a much better system. Still, the RS-1B is no slouch. $4k seems like a steep price, though, even if it's in very good shape. Is the x-over/...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
roberjermanThomas Edison would have had a good laugh at the remarks of the "golden ears" crowd ...Nonsense. Edison believed in hands-on experimentation - that was instrumental to his success. It's highly unlikely that he'd sit idly by, proselytiz...

czariveyTherefor sticking to old vintage school on components made in 70's 80's with all parts and diagrams available. Everything else is disposable trash. This is mistaken. many high-end audio manufacturers stand behind their products with lon...

audiozen... I had no idea that a recording engineer was such a low level profession. Actually, the term "recording engineer" is a misnomer, because real engineers - such as electrical, electronic, civil, structural - are licensed and degreed ...
Buying tubes...do they vary???
elizabethThen you get into NOS where the stock ALL used, just not worn out.Oh no, not if the product is properly labelled. NOS means "New Old Stock," not "slightly used old stock."
Thinking out of the box here. It might make some defensive

blueranger With the $1500 speaker cables, I could never get a good connection to the speakers because the spades were so thick and hard to attachThat's an example of using the wrong connector for the application. It's not really a fault of the ...
