Ethernet Cables, do they make a difference?
kosst_amojanUsually when somebody presents claims of symptoms that have no basis in reality they’re treated with psychiatric medications. Is that what we should do with people who hear Ethernet and HDMI cables?Doctors don’t just throw up their ar...
Why are my woofers pumping?
Question for @o_holter : Did you buy this cartridge used?If so, all bets are off. You can't be exactly sure of what you have.
Why are my woofers pumping?
o_holter Thanks Cleeds, but I don't agree. Please prove the case. Why does the arm kill the cartridge? The SME V is a terrific arm, but your woofer pumping problem simply suggests you've mounted the wrong phono cartridge to it. There's no reason...
Why are my woofers pumping?
o_holter I am happy with everything this combo does, except that it overarches in the low regionThat's rather like, "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?"It sounds like the cartridge compliance is just too high.
Why are my woofers pumping?
atmasphereIt might be that some of those debaters don’t have the bottom end bandwidth in their systems that yours has. That’s possible. It’s also possible that the debaters have absolutely no experience with the arm, or with your arm/cartridge comb...
Why are my woofers pumping?
I agree with @atmasphere that cartridge compliance is almost certainly too high, although placing the turntable too close to your woofers may exacerbate the problem. Short of replacing the cartridge and/or counterweight, you might also see if you ...
Electrical - Romex Wiring and Other Recommended Enhancements
dimora12/2 is sufficient for a 20 Amp circuit; 10/2 can handle a 30 amp circuit. 14/2 is only good for a 15A circuit. Not necessarily. It depends, in part, on the length of the run from panel to receptacle. If in the US, check NEC.
Ethernet Cables, do they make a difference?
acepilot71m@geoffkait do I know you? I did not give you right to talk to me so do not!Sorry, this is  public forum. No one here needs permission from you to post, or to respond to your posts.
Ethernet Cables, do they make a difference?
kosst_amojanWhat planet are you from? I'm from earth. That may be a different planet than yours.I guess I’m biased ...Big time!I'm not like you who cobbles together whatever hocus-pocus I can find with no expectations ...Pardon me, but your bias...
Ethernet Cables, do they make a difference?
kosst_amojanAnother flaky digital cable thread....  They make NO difference. So long as the cable supports the ethernet configuration, it makes NO difference. This stuff is obvious. I can't believe people come here and debate this stuff in a ...
Next step: tube preamp or analog?
It isn't clear what your objective is. When you suggest "analog," to what do you refer? LP? Reel-to-reel? Cassette? FM?
We Need A Separate Forum for Fuses
amg56Those that like to waste their money on expensive un-industrial/ un-scientifically proven trinkets like fuses and goo are welcome to waste their money. But DON'T pollute the Audiophile forums trying to sell the stuff to others until the ...
AC Power cable for ARC Ref 5 se.
folkfreak... the real reason for using a 20A plug is to prevent someone plugging something that draws 20A into a 15A standard receptacle and overloading the circuit. There's nothing in the design of a 15A plug that makes it unsafe carrying 20A...
AC Power cable for ARC Ref 5 se.
d2girls... do 20ampre power cords use a special type of plug to connect to your mains?Yes, 20A cords require a 20A plug rather than the more common 15A plug. You can Google it for a photo. Does that mean that the new ref ARC amps are not useable ...
Low AC Line Voltage
elizabeth116 is not a problem. 123 is kind of high.Actually, in much of the US, 123VAC is nominal voltage. 116VAC would be at the very low end of spec.I think it means that there is not much ’load’ on your local transformer with it at 123 volts.I...
