HEY! I'm gonna' be a billionaire
relLooks like a segment of the Audiogon community is suffering from severe HIS (Humor Impairment Syndrome). That would include the OP. The premise just isn't funny. Not even remotely. That may be why some interpreted it seriously. The "humor" on t...
Step Down Transformers?!
Are you sure you need a step down transformer? Perhaps you are confusing that with an isolation transformer? And what exactly do you mean by a "30A two pole" line? That’s uncommon for household use, at least in the US, and shouldn’t be connected t...

HUMIDITY
djones51 Hope you don't live in a cold winter climate to keep 60% humidity your windows will have ice on the inside. You need new windows, or perhaps need to replace the glass in your existing windows.
What is the fascination?
lewm. Cleeds, do you really think the AR turntable was one of the best available in days of yore? No, it was never the best. But when it first came out in the '60s, it was a whole lot better than much of the competition. That's why its design ...
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
mitch2 ... I am skeptical that those folks actually hear the direction of their fuses rather than the psycho-acoustical effects of cognitive bias or loss aversion based on marketing hype ...Skepticism is a good thing. Have you ever experimente...
What is the fascination?
It looks like my candid remark about the inferiority of the Garrard Zero-100 turntable (in response to @dweller) really ruffled some feathers. That wasn’t my intent, and the remark wasn’t personal. I think it’s great that there are those who resto...

chakster You must a be a rich guy if you’re buyin’ new cartridges everytime you want to experiment with different cart or tonearm. If you never tried vintage carts or arms then your experience is very limited. But i believe you may tried them lon...
Phono preamp/turntable connection question.
stringreen... just wondering if balanced cable is an "upgrade" if no other component in the system is balanced as well.A "balanced" cable that isn't connected to a balanced circuit really isn't really functioning as a "balanced" cable at all.
What is the fascination?
artemus_5The whole craze started when a post went viral about making a great TT for$100 spent at Home Despot. What post was that? I have no recollection of it.
If aftermarket premium power cords work, why won’t short runs of premium XLR cables work?
One of the advantages of a proper balanced (differential) circuit is that it minimizes the interaction with the balanced interconnect cable and makes it much less critical.
What is the fascination?
To an extent, I can understand the appeal of the best of the older turntables. But buying a used pickup arm or phono cartridge is something I’d never consider, and for the exact reasons you state. You just don’t know what you’re getting and it’s t...
Empire Turntable Parts
Are you sure that it's an LED that's out? Given the age of the turntable, I'd suspect it's just a lamp.
ADC 26 BEST PRITCHARD CARTRIDGE EVER? or BEST CARTRIDGE EVER?
rauliruegas The people in the 60's made comments that only the Infinity blackwidow or the Pritchard tonearm design were almost the ony tonearms to make the job but we learn that's not that way. Raul, I think you are a bit confused. Infinity...
